The Welsh capital may have begun its life as a Roman fort, but it's since become a bustling city. Where the fort once stood, Cardiff Castle has held court since the 11th century. It remains a central presence in the city, now full of lively art and music venues, hip boutiques, fun bars and modern hotels. Even with so many new and exciting things to see, the National History Museum is still the most visited attraction in Wales. Don't be the only visitor who plays hooky!

We’re so much more than a theatre. Our visitors enjoy blockbuster West End musicals, opera, ballet and contemporary dance, hip hop and stand up comedy, art exhibitions, workshops, training days, free daily foyer performances, guided tours, bars and restaurants... there is something for everyone.
Outstanding Outstanding Outstanding, I believe my wife paid £7 each for the trip, behind the scenes of the Millennium Centre. Robin our guide was full of information. We were very lucky for it to be only us on the tour. More relaxing, plenty of time to ask questions. I cant recommend this trip enough. They don’t run them all the time. So don’t delay it is well worth it. Mike

Prior to this we visited for “Girl on a train” enough excellent production . I just wish The Grand theatre would offer such an interesting and varied programme

Cardiff's only dedicated rock bar, nightclub and live music venue.
Where to start as I really can't recommend this Rock Bar Highly enough Let's start with the venue itself A great little bar with a separate area for gigs Plenty of memorabilia scattered around the walls ,ceilings etc all well worth getting a crick in your neck from looking at Plenty of music ,either from the massive library from the DJ area or on the juke box encompassing all genres of Rock and Metal The staff are brilliant and very friendly and helpful. A big Thanks must go out to Rob Toogood Marcus and Kyle who couldn't have done anymore to help Steve Loopy Newhouse with his book signing. The Trooper Pre and After Parties for the Maiden gig were unbelievable and the staff were again superb You really need to visit this Rock Bar when you visit Cardiff because I know I will when I next return there

First time visiting this lovely little music venue to see Tom Baxter. Loved the whole evening, perfect venue for an acoustic artist up close and personal. Lovely ambiance and pre-gig wood fired pizzas. Will be returning in October for David Ford, can’t wait.

The Norwegian Church Arts Centre is one of the landmark buildings situated in Cardiff Bay and has panoramic views over the waterfront. Formerly a Church for Norwegian Sailors, the iconic building dates back to the industrial revolution, when Cardiff Docks was the world's greatest exporter of coal. This little church based in Cardiff bay is absolutely beautiful. We didn't visit the coffee shop however the drinks smelt lovely. Its free to look around and is rich with history. Upstairs they had a shop with hand made gifts in. From glass ornaments to candles and wax melts which smelt beautiful. Some friends and I spent ages looking around and purchased many items as Christmas presents (and some bits for ourselves) The shop staff where chatty and friendly and full of knowledge of the area, church, and hand made products. One man that worked their had made the scented wax flowers i brought and was helping me pick some out and telling me about how long they last, how he made them, and how eco friendly them - and his company is. (They don't have company cards due to the plastic coating making them non recyclable) I have done a separate review for his company - please check it out! If your in Cardiff - go check it out. They have art on display downstairs which is free to look around and is beautiful. They have a petition to keep the church open - if you visit - PLEASE SIGN!!

Chapter really is the only place in Cardiff that screens (truly) independent movies within its programme and I love it for that. Completely agree to the no eating policy within the screens - I've come for the movie, not to hear two rows behind chomp on sweets and slurp fizzy drinks.

Stately home of the world-famous Welsh Opera Company.
I read in an early WNO programme that 'Opera is emotion'. If that is the case, then with this production of Tosca at the Bristol Hippodrome, the WNO really nailed it! Brilliant performances by all the cast, outstanding sets and an unforgettable performance by the orchestra and conductor justifying the enthusiastic curtain calls from the audience. One of the best shows I have ever seen and as a recent only convert to opera, highly recommended to those who, like me, never considered opera in the past.

Another visit to St David's Hall, this time to see Susan Boyle in Concert. Another enjoyable visit, mainly due to the friendly and welcoming staff and the comfortable seating, affording great views wherever we sit in the arena. The acoustics are also exceptional. Undoubtedly the best theatre in Cardiff!
