With more surviving 18th century buildings than any other city in the United States, visiting Annapolis is like stepping back in time to the days when the city was a colonial seaport. Known as America’s Sailing Capital, the city is located on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and is a paradise for water lovers, famous for its crab cakes, lighthouses, and 500 miles of gorgeous shoreline. Tour the campus of the US Naval Academy, or the Maryland State House, the oldest state capitol still in use.

Colonial Players consistently ranks among the top community theaters in the Baltimore/D.C. area. The level of acting, directing, and production values at this theater is often times indistinguishable from professional productions you may see. Check their website for current productions.

Founded in 1966, ASGT is an outdoor community theatre led by volunteers, presenting musical theatre (featuring live music) in "one of the most unique venues in the area" [BroadwayWorld 6/30/16]. Our location in the heart of Annapolis' downtown scene and our summertime schedule lend themselves to fun, upbeat entertainment. Enjoying dinner at one of the city's many fine restaurants and a show at ASGT is the perfect way to spend a summer evening in Annapolis. Fun, casual, and never stuffy, ASGT is "truly one of Annapolis' hidden treasures" [TripAdvisor review by Alex C 8/13/15]. Performances are Thursdays-Sundays and select Wednesdays at 8:30 pm between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

We watched a pre-Christmas production of A Christmas Carol. The auditorium has a small stage with the seating close in on 3 of the 4 sides. It was very personal for the audience to be so close to the actors. The production was very good. It kept my two young sons captivated throughout. The break included a lovely hot chocolate from the bar. The theatre is easy to get to, being just off the main highway and had ample free parking. Overall a great start to the Christmas holiday season.
