Externally this is a wonderfully imposing building reflecting the mudejar influences with its promises of untold delights inside; seriously beautiful building! I did take a gamble to see a concert which was a mixture of flamenco, jazz, singing, guitar and dance; it paid off it was brilliant. Internally the decoration doesn't match up to the splendour of the Wakefield or Leeds Grand Theatres and the air conditioning was a bit lacking, but the overall atmosphere was superb. Another example of how Cadiz can enter into your soul.

We happened to be in Seville for a performance of Donizetti's Don Pasquale. Very nice staging. Good voices. Excellent acoustics. Come as you are. Not very snobbish. After all, more operas have been written about Seville than any other city.

Right at Seville's Barrio Santa Cruz, a modest façade will not certainly impress you at all. This is the awesome "Iglesia de Santa María la Blanca" - a temple dedicated to the cult of "Nuestra Señora de las Nieves". Recently restored, this Church dates as far back as the 11th century, being initially a mosque, converted into a synagogue in 1252 and later, in 1391, christianized. It was almost totally demolished in 1661 and rebuilt - at the same site - with baroque and gothic styles' characteristics. Despite the simple façade, its interior is really breathtaking, with fantastic artistic treasures, including paintings by famous Murillo, a Seville's born painter. If you miss it, you'll regret forever! Check its restrict opening hours before going. Enjoy!
