Get a taste of Taiwan’s long and storied tea culture on our full-day scenic guided tour of two spectacular tea growing areas just outside of Taipei City. First we'll ascend via gondola into the lush Maokong hills where we'll visit tea farms and meet revered tea masters. After learning a bit about Taiwan's tea history, we'll attend the first of two tea ceremonies, sampling various types of locally grown organic teas. Afterwards, we'll head further into the mountains to explore other tea farms, visiting the beautiful Thousand Island Lake before heading to a second traditional tea house for the afternoon ceremony. Our Tea Culture Tour is the ideal opportunity to unwind and familiarize yourself with Taiwan tea and tea culture. Please note: The Maokong Gondola closes in inclement weather. We arrived a bit early and June was waiting for us. She started with the Longshan Temple and explained what was going on, the local religions and worship, very interesting. We moved on to the traditional medicine area and tried some teas. We also had a look at the preserved old shops. June was cheerful and pleasant and knowledgeable. She ordered some local buns for us to finish with which were delicious. Family of five from Australia.

Lovely visit with lots to see and varied souvenirs to buy. A good mix of casual stores that are well presented and well priced. Loved the opportunity to sample local delicacies amid a flurry of international tourists. Roads are narrow with some good photo opportunities. Ablutions seem to be sparse and huge crowds developed after 18:00 at night. We bussed in and out saving a fortune and enjoying WiFi all at the same time! A worthwhile visit - easy to navigate around and rather exciting. Have the beef noodle soup - delicious.
During this 2-hour trip, you will see how necessary tea is for Taiwanese daily by drinking. You probably have tasted a cup of BOBA milk tea to quench your thirst, which is even being sold in 7-11 now. However, the first thought for Taiwanese people might be the Chinese herbal tea around the corner, and finish it right away! Tea also can be more than just a drink, we mix it with rice/meat/dessert, and making friends with a cup of tea just like a shot. Let's go through the way back to hundreds years ago, from the biggest business wharf "Dadaocheng" for the history of tea. Taste explosion of tea, bet you will totally change your mind about it.

Our party of 5 traveled to Taipei in November and we went on a 4 day private tour with Justaiwan Tour. I worked with Max to plan the trip and he was extremely patient in answering all my questions and worked with me to modify my itiniaries. Warren was our tour guide and he was very accommodating, going out of his way to make sure that we had a good time. He was even willing to adjust his work hours and worked longer on certain days so that we can keep up with our itineraries. The tour company and Warren were very responsive; they made us feel like we had a family in Taipei who's always watching out for us to make sure that we are safe and have a great time. I reccomended the tour company to all my family and friends and will definitely contact them again when I return to Taiwan.
