This was my third visit to La Calle. I have attended both locations and the new location offers a good walk for walk minded people! The new facility is fantastic! The classrooms are bright with good natural light and are well ventilated. This keeps you cool and comfortable at all times for the best learning environment. The pool is an attraction but more importantly the common space with the bistro is where it happens! As well, a great kitchen and staff welcome you daily like you are good friends or family. The food and snacks are prepared onsite with fresh, local ingredients. The staff - both ‘profesors’ and ‘maestros’ - what to say? They are engaging, professional and patient. They use a variety of teaching activities. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Ok - don’t hesitate. Use this school in this fantastic historical community. You will be pleased with your choice and you will learn Spanish. Do not hold back! Learning Spanish is about taking the risk. Engage often and listen intently. Focus on the rhythms of the language and watch your teacher for other aspects of communicating such as body language and facial expressions. Hold firm if you don’t understand a task or activity. Don’t be afraid to ask for repetition or request someone to speak slower. You will be frustrated at times but this is part of the learning process. Remember, learning something new is rewarding and good for you in so many ways. Take the risk! La Calle will not disappoint.

Habla: The Center for Language and Culture

Spanish School and Cultural Center

My husband and I did a two week intermediate Spanish immersion class at Habla and it far exceeded our very high expectations. The school is amazing, but the teachers are the true heart of the school. I got to meet an intelectual anarchist, eat delicious food and learn more spanish in two weeks than I thought possible. All our teachers had the true gift of teaching. Everyone that works there feels like they love their job and it shows. Another unexpected benefit was the other students. Everyone was so interesting and fun to learn with. I highly recommend Habla to any level of Spanish learner.

If you are looking to improve your Spanish and learn about the culture of the Yucatan, this is the school for you! I highly recommend the "experiencias" program for students who have at least an intermediate-advanced level of Spanish. Hiroshi and Nidi were excellent hosts who always made me feel welcome. From the airport pickup to classes, field trips, and arranging my home-stay, they never overlooked any details. Be sure to take the cooking class with Doña Susi - she is a delight! Everyone at Hola Spanish School is very attentive, personable, and a pleasure to learn from.
