10 Classes & Workshops in Puxi (Downtown Shanghai) That You Shouldn't Miss

May 22, 2021 Oliva Fomby

The largest city in China is also its most cosmopolitan, offering visitors a chance to experience the past, present, and future all at once. The Huangpu River splits Shanghai into two districts: Pudong and Puxi. The Pudong skyline looks like it was ripped from the Jetsons, with the bulbous Oriental Pearl TV and Radio Tower looking a bit like a two headed lollipop. On the Puxi side, you can walk the Bund riverside district to get a taste of old Shanghai.

Cici is a wonderful host. Making XLB and pan fried buns was fun and engaging. Eating our own freshly steamed XLB and fried buns was absolutely delicious. I guarantee you that they are better than the ones you have in restaurants. Cici even prepared some local appetisers and rice wine for us to wash down the XLB and fried buns. Highly recommend to those who love XLB and Pan Fried Buns !

Practical Wing Chun Shanghai

Practical Wing Chun Shanghai ClubWhat is Practical Wing Chun?Wing Chun is a Chinese self-defence system, which is said to have been created by a woman more than 300 years ago. The system's fundamental principles are economy of movement, efficiency, and technique over strength. The system is focused around the centrelines, diagonal lines and angles. The theory behind the basic elements includes: balance, timing, control and simultaneity in defence and attacks. There are different lineages of Wing Chun depending on the interpretation of the system. We follow Grandmaster Wan Kam Leung who modified and improved the system so it has become more practically applicable, hence the name Practical Wing Chun. How does Practical Wing Chun benefit me?Practical Wing Chun is suitable for everyone regardless of size, gender and age as brute force, strength and acrobatic abilities do not play a decisive role.In addition to learning effective self-defence techniques, you will get in better shape and gain more self-confidence and well-being. You will get an increased motor awareness and thus improved body control and focus of the mind, things you will greatly benefit from in other contexts. What is Active Isolated Stretch?Specialized American therapists developed Active Isolated Stretch (AIS) more than 30 years ago. The principles behind AIS consist of four principles.1. Isolate the muscle to be stretched.2. Repeat the stretch eight to 10 times.3. Hold each stretch for no more than two seconds.4. Exhale on the stretch; inhale on the release. How does AIS benefit me?AIS does not only help you become softer and more flexible, but it can also greatly relieve back pain, neck pain, tension in shoulders and stiff legs. At the same time AIS can also correct bad posture related to profession or sports. As traditional massage may give you a temporary relief from pain with no long term effect, our AIS therapists along with yourself work deep into your body freeing it from pain and discomfort, creating a good body posture and in this way creating the body awareness and well-being that is essential for living a healthy life. Our Shanghai ClubPractical Wing Chun Shanghai Club is situated in the central business district of Shanghai, the financial and shipping hub of modern China. The club is decorated in a traditional southern Chinese style and has all the modern comfort and luxuries you would expect to find in a premium training facility. The club is designed to provide members with a venue to improve their general health and fitness whilst simultaneously acquiring self-defencea skills by learning and practicing a truly world class Martial Arts.
