My husband and I arrived at Meson Sacristia to be greeted by Chefs Ruth and Diana. After being introduced and handed a bottle of water we were off to the market to purchase ingredients. Accompanying Ruth and Diana in the market was an education not to be missed! Their exceptional knowledge was evident as we strolled though the market picking up this, tasting that. Back at the cooking school we chopped, boiled, fried and talked. We talked about food, about Puebla, about family and plans. This was not just a class on cooking, but a total immersion in Puebla. Ruth's professional manner in instructing was easy to follow and my husband and I enjoyed a feeling of being part of Chef Ruth's kitchen team. The result was a gastronomic display worthy of a Michelin rating. We enjoyed sharing the bounty with Ruth and Diana, continuing our conversations, as we relaxed in the beauty of the restaurant's courtyard. If you enjoy cooking don't miss this opportunity to hone your skills. I you don't enjoy cooking, don't miss this opportunity to get to know Puebla on a deeper level. You won't be disappointed.

We teach Spanish in the beautifula colonial historic center of Puebla, with lodging options on-site. Opt for the total immersion and cultural program and stay with a local host family.
It was a very enjoyable and productive experience for two weeks.I arrived alone at the last minute after a friend had to cancel the trip and was given a very warm welcome. Friends were easily made with other students, the class room instruction was very personalized, the Thursday field trips were enjoyable as was the weekend trip I was able to take with the help from maru. Learning basically consists of morning classes and an afternoon spent with a guide visiting different places on the city while speaking Spanish and homework at night. I honestly cannot think of a single change I would recommend to the structure of the program and would highly recommend both the school as well as the town of Puebla to visit.

I have been participating in Carlos and Lety's cooking class with a group of new friends since the spring. Once a month I look forward to getting together and mixing a cocktail and cooking a snack while playing Lotteria or learning more about Puebla over zoom. This month we participated in a re-enactment of the Posada while drinking the ponche we prepared for the class and eating tamales. I look forward to when I can travel again and do an in person cooking class with Carlos and Lety!
