My mother and I did a private bread baking class with Najia at The Ruined Garden in January 2020. It was a fabulous experience! We will treasure it for a long time. Najia is the master chef of the restaurant and a wonderful baker. We learned so much, made six or more kinds of bread, had tons to take with us, and it was all delicious and interesting. We also got to go to a community oven with two of our loaves, which was a great experience. The class also included lunch at the restaurant, which was delicious! I can't thank Najia enough. Definitely don't miss this experience!

Spending time in Hamza's studio was a magical experience and a great insight in to Fes' rich history and artistic traditions. Super friendly and fascinating to speak with the time just flew by as we chatted away in his father's studio overlooking the Medina. I did the brass etching workshop which was really fun with Hamza taking time to guide you through each step paitently and I ended up really pleased with the end result and it was lovely to take away such a meaningful souvenir! I couldn't recommend this experience more even for people who might not think of themselves as artsy I think would have an amazing time trying their hand at something new and learning about the city. Please please please include a visit to craft draft in your trip to Fes!

This has with out a doubt been one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in this small Riad Anata as my partner was keen to do Samira’s class! So glad we did! Fantastic shopping experience with her at all her local stores as she grew up in this neighbourhood. Sensational fresh ingredients, vegetables, fruits, very fresh chicken! which we took back to the Riad for great conversation and explainations of the preparation of the foods as we went. We took lots of notes and gained lots of knowledge from Samira. She works fast, so you have to keep up with her and be attentive in this small cosy kitchen. We made, Pickled Lemon Chicken in the pressure cooker, which is then transferred to the Tagine. Made three salads. Carrot which is amazing. An Tomato & Egg plant one, then a cauliflower one. They aren’t as simple as you think. Then also made the piklettes / pancakes for the next days breakfast and a very light fluffy chocolate cake. Then our desert was strawberries, with fresh mint in an orange juice. To eat then sip. The whole experience was great value as it took around 4 hours, included all the ingredients with the best meal at the end. A fraction of what you’d likely pay in your home country! Just do it! Book it! You’ll love it. But remember it’s up to you to be involved and not sit back to watch!
