This stunning Moroccan city in the Rif Mountains was originally built as a fortress in the 15th century. The mountains towering over Chefchaouen resemble a pair of goat’s horns, and, perhaps not coincidentally, the creamy native goat cheese is one of the most popular regional treats. Architecture enthusiasts will marvel at the Jewish-inspired blue-tinted buildings, octagonal mosque and Spanish ruins.

Idrissi and Mourad made for an incredible trip to Fez. Everyone at this company follows Covid safety guidelines, and we felt very safe. The drive to Fez was breathtaking, and totally different than the other parts of the country we had visited. Mourad took us to a nice rest stop for a break along the drive. The ride was comfortable, with reclining seats, A/C, sanitizer, water, etc... In Fez, we met up with our guide, Idrissi, who has been a tour guide in Fez for about 40 years! He has an extremely extensive knowledge of the city of Fez, and gave us the experience of having a friendly, scholarly historian as a guide. We could tell right away that Idrissi is very well respected in Fez, by how locals would greet him so happily through the city. He is very well dressed and polite. We felt lucky to have him as a guide. We started by driving through the new Medina, then got out by the Royal Palace and walked through the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter. He pointed out the various gates and walls of the Medinas, and even knew how old they were. He pointed out which areas of the walls were from different times. We walked to Fes El Bali, the oldest neighborhood in Fez, and thought to be the oldest in-tact Medina in the world. There we got to see both sides of the famous Bab Boujloud gate, which has a completely different view from either side, and an amazing story behind its design. We got to see the outside of the Medersa Bou Inania, the Mosquee Al Qaraouiyine (which was one of the oldest universities in the world), and Medersa Attarine, (due to Covid, we couldn’t go inside). We walked through the Souk District, home of the local craftwork, where Idrissi was an expert at navigating. He also is very knowledgeable about which shops have quality handmade goods, and which shops to avoid. We are vegan, so Idrissi customized the trip for us, and skipped past the meat market and camel leather areas for us, which was very nice of him. He only took us to things that we were interested in seeing, and things that he knew we would appreciate. We got to go into the Nejjarine Museum of cedar wood, which displays artifacts of all of the various ways Moroccans used cedar wood from the Atlas Mountains from the 14th century to now. Idrissi also took us to many amazing lookout points with breathtaking views and photo-ops. Something we really appreciated was how he made sure that we did not feel pressure to buy things, and made sure the shop owners were not pushy. He picked quality places to take us to, especially for lunch. We had a personalized traditional Moroccan meal in an immaculate restored traditional home, with detailed carvings, mosaics, and artwork from floor to ceiling. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was great. We finished our tour with a tour of a ceramic school and workshop, which is a craft especially important to Fez. On the way out, we stopped at the top of a hill with a panoramic view of the Medinas we walked through, and the Merenid Tombs. Then, we had a nice drive home. I highly recommend seeing Fez this way. Idrissi is the best guide you’ll find in Fez!

Fes to Chefchaouen day trip Wedged between two mountains, Chefchaouen is a city with whitewashed houses with blue and white. A powerful charm that we feel on Outa-el-Hammam in the pebbled Medina.Sitting at an outdoor cafe, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Grand Tarik-Ben-Ziad Mosque witch the octagonal minaret is inspired from the Torre de Oro in Seville. This Andalusian architecture is found in the kasbah and its gardens, in the heart of the medina. its walls and the eleven crenellated towers, one of them served as a dungeon, home to an interesting ethnographic museum. « This peaceful city is not a museum : here, the craft tradition is alive ! Be seduced by its authentic charm.

Our tour guide was Ali, and he was amazing! Definitely request to have Ali as your guide in advance! We were picked up in Casablanca, and got to see Chefchaouen, Fez, the Sahara Desert, and Marrakech! Because it was a road trip, we got to see many different parts of the country, which made me fall in love with it even more. Ali gave us great recommendations, and was always reliable. He even sang songs in the car with us! The trip was very organized and planned out well, and we had no issues at all! Needless to say, this company is very reliable. For the price of this adventure, you cannot beat it! I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone, and can hopefully go back again!

It was the best-guided tour I have ever had and all thanks to our guide Mohammed. It really has been amazing. Mohammed has a great knowledge of Fez, art, and universal history. He speaks perfectly English and relates the most important elements of Fez with those of other places, being very enjoyable. The six hours of the visit flew by. As if that were not enough, take some beautiful photos. TOP Guided FEZ TOUR!

By far this was the best part of our Moroccan trip, where we took this tour and spent the night in the middle of the Sahara. We rode camels to our tents, and at night time after an amazing dinner we had a drum circle with plenty of laughing and singing. The best part was getting to see the Milky Way and all the stars throughout the night. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour. Highly recommend taking this one, as it’s an experience of a lifetime!
