I travelled to Toulon on a Mediterranean cruise. Our party of six just stumbled on this cathedral whilst wandering through the old town. It would be very easy to miss as it is tucked in between other buildings with no space between them. What a surprise we got when we went in! The first thing we noticed was the black and white tiled floor with its worn paths. How old was this and who had walked before us? It was truly moving. We all moved around the beautiful old cathedral separately, but when we all came back together every single one of us said the same thing - "I had goosebumps and the hair on my arms stood up." Not one of us has any connection with France but this wondrous cathedral touched us all. It is a must see place, so reverent and peaceful. We were all amazed that parts of it had been built in the 6th century - something we Aussies don't see very often as we are only 200+ years old ourselves.
