In the "city of dreaming spires," academia takes center stage. Gaze out at Oxford's world-famous university from the top of Carfax Tower before heading into the city's pedestrian-friendly streets. Follow your nose to the Covered Market for the makings of a picnic to enjoy at Headington Hill Park. Mix the historic and modern with visits to the 12th-century village church of Iffley and trendy Cowley's ethnic shops and music venues.

I've attended several concerts at SJE, the most recent being on 29 June 2019 (a recital of harpsichord and classical guitar music). The church is the venue for "SJE Arts" and hosts events regularly. The acoustics are excellent and the church has several interesting features, including a set of paintings of the Stations of the Cross around the nave and an intricate rood screen. The stained glass window above the altar and needlework altarpiece are also worth a look!

The Church is super cute and peaceful. It is a little way on a path that is nice. The cemetery is pretty small, which made it easy to find CS Lewis’s grave. Very special spot.

I'd attended sung eucharist at St Giles, opposite, and a fellow Anglican showed me this beautiful church. Mass was just ending, so I was able to chat to two of the priests, who were friendly and welcoming. The interior is most attractive, and I liked the smell of incence.

Part of the guided tour of the college of course includes the chapel and is an excellent example of a college chapel. Beautiful coloured glass and plenty of history if someone can tell you the stories. We got lucky. Some very funny American tourists also thought they got locked in.
