We occasionally go out of our way to go to church here. The attendance is very good for such an out of the way small town. And of course, the history.... the relevance of this place on the map of Korean War history and Fr. Kapaun makes this especially special.

City Center Church has dynamic worship, challenging messages, and classes and services for all ages. If you're looking for a church home, look no further! Let's do life together at City Center Church.
My family moved to KC from Texas in 2001 for a job transfer, and we didn’t know anyone here. We started attending City Center Church (then Lenexa Christian Center) and we were welcomed with open arms! We are in our 20th year here and we love our church! You can truly “come as you are” to this Holy Spirit filled church, hear Bible centered preaching, enjoy amazing and authentic worship, build friendships, and grow in your walk with Jesus Christ!

This huge church--built in 1957--serves both the abbey and the adjacent Benedictine College. From the back, one gets an impression of the church's enormous size. At the front is a huge mosaic. The monks invite visitors to join them in their daily prayer in the upper church. Below is a large chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe that also merits a visit.

This beautiful stone building has been in constant use since 1878. It is reported that Gen Custer, his brother and some of their troop attended church here just before they went to Little Big Horn. The interior of the chapel is a must see. You can feel the history that has transpired as men readied for combat. There is a large Plaque inside dedicated to Gen Custer, Tom Custer and 4 other men who were killed at Little Big Horn. There are many other plaques adorning the walls of Civil War heroes and of men who helped tame the West. If you walk around back of the chapel you will find a wonderful view of the Missouri River. Religious services are held in this chapel every Sunday. If you visit Fort Leavenworth I strongly advise you take some time to see this historic and beautiful building.

We didn't have time to stop and go inside this Cathedral. The architecture from the outside is wonderful. We wish we had the time to go inside. It was constructed in 1857. At one time there were eleven bells in the tower, each one named after a Saint. The dome has been replaced a couple of times and covered in 23-carat gold leaf.
