The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy some peace, quiet and natural beauty. Except perhaps in the summer, when the Isle of Wight Festival draws visitors from all over the world. In 1970, the Festival was the largest rock-music event ever held. It was called Britain's Woodstock and featured Jimi Hendrix and The Who. (Not so much peace or quiet that week.) The island is also known for its world-famous sailing and lovely resorts, where people have been vacationing since Victorian times.

If you are interested in the Pre-Raphaelite artists then this church is a must. Here you will see the work of Burne-Jones, Ford Maddox Brown and Reynolds.in windows that were originally in the chapel of the Royal National Hospital, Ventnor. The car park for Ventnor Botanical Gardens is where the hospital used to stand. As well as the windows there is a stained glass panel that can be illuminated and is by William Morris and Ford Maddox Brown. The Church itself is very beautiful and tranquil. Another unusual feature is carillon of six bells. The church kindly provides squash and biscuits for passing walkers.

This church is not as old as it might appear but it is quaint and, being thatched, quite unusual. It is sometimes open for visitors

Beautiful old church, (dating from the 12th Century), with a lovely peaceful atmosphere. Being so old there is so much to see with some interesting stain glass window and wealthy local family tombs.

A nice walk around the church yard. There are some beautiful monuments, memorials and unusual headstones. The grounds are beautifully maintained
