Wellington Church is located on University Avenue, opposite the University of Glasgow. The building was designed by the architect Thomas Lennox Watson and built between 1883 and 1884 . It has a wonderful Neo-classical portico with eight Corinthian columns and resembles a Greek temple. You can stop here also at church’s Crypt Cafe. The entrance is on University Avenue. Here you can enjoy a light snack or drink really good coffee or tea. Wellington Church is the most impressive looking building the Hillhead area. Worth a look when you're in the area.

Mackintosh Queen’s Cross is one of Glasgow’s hidden architectural gems. The only church in the world designed by the great Scottish architect, designer and artist, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Commissioned in 1896 by the Free Church, the simplicity of the design is inspiring. The windows are Gothic in character, yet are infused with the Mackintosh spirit, and the floral motifs he affected can be easily recognised, particularly on the tracery of the large western window above the chancel. Mackintosh Queen’s Cross is no longer a working church and now houses a plethora of events for the CRM Society and has provided Glasgow with a new venue for weddings, concerts, meetings and seminars. The CRM Society continues to deliver lively learning experiences, workshops and activities for schools, students, adults, families and children.
Such a beautiful church. Mackintosh at his best, amazing architecture, stained glass and furniture. A wonderful visit to this amazing building, with a stunning interior and very helpful and enthusiastic staff. The staff could not have been any nicer or more helpful. Beautiful venue which is a real treat for the eyes with Charles Rennie Mackintosh details everywhere you look. A little gem to go to. A must see for MacIntosh enthusiasts and everyone else.

Stunning cathedral building in Glasgow's vibrant West End. Large-scale murals by artist Gwyneth Leech. Open, inclusive, welcoming congregation drawn from all over the world. Progressive liturgy and ethos. One of the finest choirs in Scotland which regularly broadcasts on BBC. Long-standing reputation for imaginative preaching.

Architecturally and historically, this magnificent church is a must see . If you are a tourist with the slightest link to the North of Scotland then it would be a wee bit of a 'sin' not to visit. If a local like me, then there's no excuse as the location is easily accessible. The Gaelic Community's presence in the city dates back to the Highland Clearances and as more families relocated through the centuries , various fine churches were built where they could worship in their own language. In this prime location in 1904, Saint Columba's opened and it could welcome well over a thousand of a congregation. Gothic Revival Glamour at its best. The nave is impressive in length and the rest of the interior is equally impressive. Vast it may be but also very welcoming and atmospheric. 'Doors Open' allowed a special Saturday visit . Many thanks to Donald for his tour of this special church. It deserves far more recognition by guide books and the 'good' folk of Glasgow and beyond. Visits can be made on Thursdays between midday and 2 pm and of course there are Services on Sunday in Gaelic and English. Check the social media pages for exact information.
