We spent a full day in visiting Monte Sant'Angelo, a very important town in the past. There, you breath History. Fantastic the old part of the town

I have stayed on a hotel just a very near walking distance to the Sanctuary and Shrine of St. Padre Pio for two nights. And visiting San Giovanni Rotondo to see St. Pio has been part of my Catholic bucket list ever since when I was introduced to this saint ever since I was a young boy. This trip from London to Italy was one of those near spontaneous decision of mine. Even though it took me like three to two weeks in preparation. It was good to research the accessibility of San Giovanni Rotondo in advance prior to one's visit. As I what I found out there are no direct train or plane rides from London to this lovely town. So making Rome as my initial base then taking a Trenitalia train to Foggia was the usual advice if one does not want a long drive. From Foggia to San Giovanni Rotondo was to be done via a nearly one hour bus ride. Very helpful in advance indeed to research how to ride the Italian Trains with their designated train carriages and how to locate them; knowing that the train station in Foggia is just near the bus station is one thing, but locating where to purchase the bus ticket is another tricky aspect: Not at the bus station but rather at a Tobacco Shop across the station. It helps indeed to research these travelling issues not only via books but through the internet, and watching travel vloggers help as well to visualise the area and get good advice from them. Being there at San Giovanni Rotondo, the place may be very laid-back, however even though the locals may be able to speak basic English, they are extremely helpful. For first time pilgrims or those travelling alone, it is note-worthy to check-in first at the Pilgrims Office at the Sanctuary. They are impressively helpful in advising you how to visit the Sanctuary or book you on an available pilgrims tour. Once you are there at the Sanctuary immerse yourself about the life of Saint Padre Pio and have that moment to internally speak to God, this place is just so divinely special.
