This 12th-century cathedral has both historical and architectural significance: Ulrich Zwingli led an important sect of the Reformation from here in the early 1500s, and the cathedral's twin towers serve as perhaps the most recognizable landmarks in modern Zürich.
The Grossmunster makes up part of the Protesant diocese in Zurich. It is right across the Limmat River from the Fraumunster and esily reached by the bridge that literally connects both churches. You will recognize it by the majestic twin towers as you cross the bridge. There are numerous steps as it is built high up from the banks of the river, however to the left is a street that could be utilized by wheelchairs. It is a bit steep, but smooth and negotiable. The grounds are not that large or elaborate, but the inside of the church makes up for it. Arches, columns and stained glass windows beautify the interior. The church houses burial grounds for numerous saints. A stunning and historical landmark in Zurich.

One of the oldest churches in the city, this cathedral is best known for having the largest clock face in Europe.
This is the city's oldest parish church. The enormous clock face is the continent's largest and its spire dominates the skyline. The interior is simple, in keeping with a reformation church.
