I’ve written reviews before and I keep going back because it’s my fathers final resting place. However, today’s visit was quite different. I was asked to look for a particular war grave of a braveheart who succumbed to yellow fever many moons ago. The war grave section is history itself. When you see the young age at which most of these brave young people were snatched away, it gives one a completely different perspective. Beautiful to visit on a Calcutta winter morning and connect within.

From Malda take the national highway going towards Siliguri and at around 30 km this place is found. The Gour circuit is Bardaouri Mosaque, Dakhil Darwaza, Firoz Minar, Gumti Darwaza and Kotwali Darwaza. This one is Eklakhi Mausoleum, Qutub Shahi Mosque and Adina Mosque or Jami Masjid. Eklakhi and Qutub shahi are neighbouring structures and right in the middle of the village. Eklakhi is a tomb which has three people buried and Qutub Shahi is a durbar of a saint with a stone throne with a flight of stairs. It’s lawns are well maintained. Eklakhi still has its roof/dome whereas the Qutub shahi has lost it. Hardly any tourists, if at all somebody comes to see it, it is only the locals on a curiosity visit or on a pilgrim circuit. No shops, no water, no snacks, no toilet, no security, no entry ticket. Like in Gour they have installed Bose outdoor speakers in the lawns.
