With a volume of more than 100,000 m3 and a surface covering 9,371 m2, the Tourist galleries represent approximately one-third of the cave. The cave has been used as a habitat, a burial site and for cultural expression. There are remnants testifying to the passage of hunters, gatherers and fishermen from more than 30,000 years ago. The General Visit starts with the screening of a audiovisual presentation in which you will be able to see spectacular details of the cave (10 minutes). Then an audio-guided visit through the different chambers of the Cave, in a pleasant walk of about 45 minutes where you will discover the many secrets the grotto keeps (audio-guided in Spanish, English, German, French, Italian and Russian). When the cave closes its doors, a small group of privileged people can enter the mystery of the underworld to enjoy the magnificence and beauty of the cave, and discover its secrets. You can choose between three modalities of Exclusive Tours
We went to Nerja for a day trip from Malaga and we had a great time visiting the cave, it is amazing, we followed the tour guide and he explain everything about it also with an audio guide, very recommended visit . After the cave we went to Nerja town and visit the Museum which is very modern and interesting. Nerja is a very quiet town and everyone is friendly.

You can visit the gypsum Sorbas caves in different ways depending on your physical conditions and concerns:Ther tours are quite affordable and prices range between 15 € and 11 € per child. They even offer a three menu lunch at their Restaurant at 13 € per person (10 € if you take a tour) Or if you prefer, you can have just a coffee on the Terrace-Bar.
We were the only two on the tour ( called the basic tour) so had a very personalised visit. You begin the tour by walking through the gorge into the cave mouth. In parts you can walk upright and in others you have to go on hands and knees. We are in our 60s and managed without any problem but it did need a scramble up and over rocks. You need to be flexible and with good mobility. Hard hats with helmet lights are provided so no danger of banging your head. The guide (Heike) was very knowledgeable and explained the geology and economics of the area in perfect English and pointed out solid walls of gypsum crystals which sparkled in the light. She also pointed out the water mark way above our heads that the levels rose too after a recent flash flood. As it rarely rains in the area there was no danger! Wear old clothes as you will be very dusty after your visit and a cool drink in the onsite bar was very welcome . The guide takes a photo in one of the small crawl areas that you can purchase if you wish for a few euros. Book ahead especially if you want to avoid school parties. For the more adventurous there are two more advanced tours in different parts of the cave system. Ours was quite exciting enough.

During this visit we are going to visit three caves. The first cave is decorated in the same style as the present cave houses of Purullena. The second cave is decorated in the style of the middle of the last century. Everything is very simple and the furniture very old. The third cave is an ethnologic al museum with several farm tolos and other pieces used in our área during many years. The third cave has a viewpoint from where you can see the whole village. It is a very unique landscape.
We loved this museum it was very interesting and refreshingly cool in the August heat. There is amazing history here, photos, memorabilia, really dating back. The way of life was rustic but charming, and relatively simple. They worked so hard but are still smiling in the photos (some of them). A real community feel here. The caves are surprisingly the same temperature in the winter. Really worth a visit, and only €2.50 entrance.

The caves are spectacular and well worth the trip to Aracena, a couple of hours north of huelva. Pre booking is recommended as there are limited numbers each day.
