The Sanvitale Fortress of Fontanellato rises, enchanting and suggestive, at the centre of the village; surrounded by a wide moat, it contains a precious treasure: the “Room of Diana and Actaeon” painted by Parmigianino in 1524. The aristocratic apartments of the Sanvitale counts is still intact, with original furniture and furnishings. From the “Camera Ottica” it still possible observe the real life outside the castle thanks to an ingenious system of lenses
Friends had recommended visiting hear years ago and I finally I got to see it. Such an unusual castle compared to others in the region. Lovely little town.

Pianura Padana - The Po Valley, Po Plain, Plain of the Po, or Padan Plain

We had the honor to host our wedding at the beautiful Castello di Tabiano in Summer19 and spent a weekend there with our family and dearest friends in the Borgo and the Castello. The unique atmosphere, breathtaking scenery and the great hospitality of the team made our italian dream come true. Everybody was so impressed and touched by the beautiful preserved castello and surrounding castlegrounds like the Borgo. We came there as guests and left as friends - above all Giacomo, Cosetta and Alpha made us feel at home and put all their energy and ideas into our special day. We will be back!

I stayed at the ACP for three days. The ambiance of the late medieval villa, the beauty of the nature of the Po plane, and the rigorous care in every detail of the food served makes this spot a must. This time I only ate at the Hosteria del Maiale. I honestly prefer the more casareccia-styled Italian cuisine based on few but exquisite ingredients. And the Spigaroli family seem to produce most at the family farms in and around Polesine. The faboulus lambrusco (gusto della Nonna) and the award winning culatello can be highly recommended!
