Situated on a rock 60 meters above the valley of the Hoyoux river, the castle offers a magnificent view over the surrounding nature reserve of 450 hectares. The castle was the house of several famous owners, among them the Count de Marchin to whom it owes its present appearance, Maximilian-Henry of Bavaria, Prince Bishop of Liège, the Cardinal von Fürstenberg or the families de Montmorency, Lamarche and Braconier. Since 1941 it belongs to VIVAQUA. An audioguide available in 8 languages enabling visitors to discover this unique place, belonging to the Major Heritage of Wallonia. Remarkable 17th century stuccowork decorates the ceilings while the walls are covered with carved panelling, tapestries and large paintings. The furniture, with some exceptional 18th and 19th century pieces, fits perfectly into this historic setting. One of the rooms is dedicated to an hydraulic wheel built in Modave in the 17th century which was the model for the machine at Marly in Versailles.
Lovely castle, it is very beautiful. It is well organized given the corona measures. We booked ticketed online and at the entrance they immediately recognized us and well come us. The route is well designed and you can keep perfect distance with others and take your time to visit

Chateau de Reinhardstein Ovifat is a very idyllic castle situated on a rock in vallee. Certainly worth a visit. You can spend two hours here, but if you combine it with a walk around the beautiful surrounding walking mpaths and a visit to the waterfall. Then you can easily be here for a couple of hours more. There is also a small archery practise area. The guided tour is worth doing. Check the website for opening hours and tours. Take walking shoes because there are some steep paths around the castle and there is a 10 minute walk from the carpark to the castle. You can get to the bottom of the waterfall going down from the castle to the river on a fairly steep path. Once you reach the river turn right down stream and the waterfall is after 100 yards on your right.

The Castle of Jehay is located in the village of Amay. Te castle, built of limestone and brown sandstone, was founded in the 11th century, but the building mostly dates from the 16th century. From the year of 1720 the Castle of Jehay was owned by the Van den Steen family. The last owner, Count Guy van den Steen, left it to the province of Liège after his death in 1999. Various sculptures can be seen in the beautiful gardens. Very much worth a visit!
