What a wonderful place. Had a thoroughly enjoyable tour with Josh, our English guide. He was engaging and funny, sharing the history of the castle. Would highly recommend

Montbrun domaine is an unforgettable Middle ages private domaine that welcomes its visitors from all over the world to increase the Tourism of Haute Vienne and Limousine region in France. There is a rustic pub restaurant "La Tavern" famous as a meet point of the region, its variety of International card cocktails, beers, menu, music and atmosphere with a panoramic view at the Haunted castle of Montbrun. The castle originally had been built on order of King Henry the second and later owned by his son Richard the Lyon's heart where he took his last breath and remains within a granite tomb on top of the mountain just in front of the main gates of the Fortress. Interior os the castle is the most impressive with its 2 floors library, chimney room, granite and marble table of King Arthur and twelve knights with its chandeliers with candles in style of 12-15th century, bedrooms with handmade furnitures and stairs leading through the floors of the towers, panoramic kitchen and much more...
This Medieval castle was fabulous. We had a guided tour (€15pp booked at the Teverne) and it was SO worth it. The guide Irina was really passionate while she took us through the castle for 1,5 hours and told us many fun facts and details about the different rooms and how people lived back then. Most people in our group were French, and yet she took the time to tell us everything in English. Great visit, would recommend!
