Great value safari lodge in the South Luangwa. Perfect for families, solo travellers, honeymooners and wildlife afficionados! The camp has a relaxed atmosphere, great game viewing, incredible guides, delicious food and a stunning location all at sensible prices. Stay with us at a Safari Camp that doesn't take itself too seriously but seriously takes care of you and enjoy the Luangwa Valley at its best.
Would you want to go on safari to an African country where everyone speaks English? Of course you would so Zambia is the place to go. South Luangwa National Park abuts the stunning Luangwa River in the South Eastern region of Zambia. We stayed at Flatdogs Camp and were blown away by the food (4 star and all freshly cooked daily on the premises) and wonderful staff. Everything was highly organised and nothing too much trouble. My husband and I are very serious (but amateur) wildlife photographers and we had ‘targeted’ two species in particular that this area is famous for, that is leopards and wild dogs. We were not disappointed, and of course there were all the other main contenders in abundance, from lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, hyenas etc. We have always said the real joy is seeing true wildlife in its own environment behaving naturally; please see the zebras just having fun in a small family group. Zambia is unique in many ways, with a relatively sparse population of only 17 million, but they have 7 very different languages not dialects so they use English as their first language. It is spoken widely by virtually everybody. Thus communication between us all is excellent. The national park itself is quite different from many Africa countries as the landscape varies from open grass plans, vast areas of water bodies, known as lagoons where the hippos spend much of their day, to the forested areas where elephants and giraffes lurk. The word Flatdogs is a colloquial name for crocodiles. It is without doubt the best place we have ever stayed, anywhere, by far. We are well travelled and have been to Africa for wildlife five times before. The accommodation was very spacious and comfortable with a choice of luxury bug proof tents with private en-suite facilities to self-catering lodges. The food I have already mentioned. The owners have set extremely high standards with all aspects of service and the people running it day to day were quite delightful. Our guide for the duration ranked with the best. A very bright young man with a mind boggling mental map of the whole park and an almost encyclopaedic memory for the flora and fauna. I will not tell you his name as we want him to be available when we return!!! The park entrance is a very short five minute drive away but you see wildlife immediately you start your journey from Flatdogs. The staff were always happy to engage and so good to have meaningful conversations with everyone. The local beer was good too! We will return!!

Olga's the Italian Corner is the final stage of an educational project for the most vulnerable youth of Livingstone. It opened in 2008 as a production unit in support of YCTC (Youth Community Training Centre), a certified school built by the Diocese of Livingstone and CELIM (an Italian NGO). All Olga's profits go to YCTC which provides training in catering, tailoring, plumbing, electrical, metal construction, computer studies and bricklaying to orphans and vulnerable youth. Most of Olga's employees come from the YCTC's catering course, which results in the project being self-sustainable. Olga's is located in the center of Livingstone and only 9 kilometres far from the famous Victoria Falls, easily reachable with minibus or cab. It is 15 minutes far from the airport and walking distance from the main attractions of Livingstone: bars, travel agencies, shops, museum, grocerystore, etc.
We visited here for supper during our stay in Livingstone. The pizza as always was Amazing. My daughter had a cheese pizza which I usually find very plain but with the addition of feta to theres it was excellent even for me. We tried a couple others kinds which were all good the crust was cooked perfectly. It was disappointing that they were not offering dessert, but with so many restaurants still trying to recover from Covid and shutdowns I do understand. Definitely make this a stop during your time here in Livingstone.

Experience Africa at your own terms. Exclusive and affordable vacationing. Self-catering family cottages along the Kafue River. Only 2 ½ hrs drive from Lusaka in Lower Zambezi Game viewing by boat in the famous Lower Zambezi National Park. Play Park Swimming Pool Camp Grounds Fishing Bush trails Cash bar Restaurant
The staff are very friendly and helpful at Mount Hermon, but this would not be enough to entice me back. The cottages are small, basic and rather shoddily finished. They are comfortable enough, but not the level they sell themselves to be. The lodge is also not in a great location as it is in an area of the game management area which is mainly inhabited, meaning there are no animals and it is a long way from the park. However, they do organise day trips there, which we did not go on, but sounded good and popular, although long and tiring. The location is more in the village than in the wild. The view is lovely, but have been to nicer places nearby and closer to the park.

4km from The Victoria Falls, Maramba River Lodge provides a most attractive all-year-round base to access The Victoria Falls. Maramba River Lodge is situated in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park overlooking the Maramba River. The lodge is visited by the resident wildlife with elephant wandering through the grounds at certain times of the year.
Driving the awful road from Kabula Lodge to Livingstone, we arrived at Maramba in the late afternoon. The setup of the lodge is stunning, but once again the camping fraternity has been overlooked. The ablutions are still in the original spot as in 2007, even though the original campsites had to make way for new chalets & permanent tents. It is quite a walk to the ablutions & with hippos roaming the grounds at night, it makes it a dangerous excercise. Once again, as with almost all the places on our trip, warm/hot water was NOT a given. One would expect a lot more for the price we paid. Their Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi however, was the BEST sunset cruise we have ever experienced. The guide (Easton) & the captain (forgot his name) are very knowledgable and very friendly.

Kasabushi Camp and Campsite are the true 'Heart of the Kafue', located within the Wild Zone of the Central Kafue National Park, a protected area with limited development allowed. Kasabushi Camp was built from scratch by its owners, Andy and Libby Wilson, with love and a skilful attention to detail. It's a perfect 'home in the bush' for guests wanting to experience their creature comforts but feel totally at one with their surroundings. Kasabushi Camp is situated on a stunningly beautiful stretch of the Kafue River with amazing views of palm-covered islands. The Bush Camp has been built using a combination of old English timber-work and contemporary design ideas. There are currently two tented chalets (hand-built tents with a gum pole structure on decks) overlooking the Kafue River, both far enough apart for complete privacy. The natural plunge pool nestled between granite rocks in front of the Round House is the perfect place to cool off in heat of the day. The Round House has an incredibly beautiful view, a wonderful place to dine and relax. The camp is small, intimate and exclusive so guests enjoy the surroundings, birds and wildlife in peace and the service revolves around them only. The campsite has an awesome ablution area with spacious and well-appointed water-fall showers, basins with mirrors, flushing toilets and a washing-up area. All facilities have hot and cold water. A braai stand and all firewood is included in the nightly charge. Dedicated pitches are all by the river with space for peace and privacy, and all have trees for shade. The Campsite is the perfect location for self-drivers due to its location within the Kafue National Park. Guests can drive straight from camp (with a map provided) to the various game loops.
What a fantastic time with Lib and Andy in the beautiful kasabushi. Stunning lodges that are immaculate in every way. Excellent range of amazing meals served at our convenience. A wonderful experience including game drives and river boat trips with the very knowledgeable Andy. Kasabushi is faultless. It is stunning, comfortable and our hosts were second to none. This was our third visit over 5 years and it is still as fresh and new as our first visit We will be back ……

Dotted along the forested riverbanks, Time + Tide Chongwe Camp is surrounded by wild beauty. Set at the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers against a stunning mountainous backdrop, the area is a haven for wildlife. Sit in front of your tent, beneath ancient winterthorn trees and watch as elephants feed on seed pods as the belly laugh of hippos echoes across the river. Overhead, monkeys and birds bring the canopy to life, and impalas tiptoe past, nibbling on the grassy banks. Throughout Time + Tide Chongwe Camp, the spirit of the Lower Zambezi imbues every detail. Wood artfully gnarled by nature adorns the camp, collected from fallen trees and repurposed into handcrafted furniture. Explore this breath-taking landscape with an impressive selection of activities. Track wildlife on foot with a walking safari, relax beside lions on a game drive, sleepout under the stars high in the escarpment or take to the maze of rivers and channels for canoeing, boating and fishing adventures.
We were in Zambia for 11 days. We stayed at Chongwe for the first 4 of those days. I had a sneaking suspicion that our other 2 locations would pale in comparison to Chongwe Camp, and I was right! Although we enjoyed our entire trip, there was something special about Chongwe: the views and the people. Our host told us that their main objective is to make their visitors feel like we are one of them; they hit their objective on the very first night! From the guides, who lovingly shared their wealth of information on each and every game drive, to the chefs and servers who cared for and anticipated our every need, to the cleaners and watchmen, who protected us on our way home each night, and lovingly cleaned our tents, complete each day with a new floral and towel arrangement on our beds...this crew went above and beyond in making us feel welcomed and truly at ease. As for the nature surrounding this camp on all sides, it couldn't have been better: the Chongwe river borders every single tent, so each tent wakes to a 280 degree view of its banks, complete with elephants and hippos. Each night, we could hear the baboons, elephants, lions and hyenas calling to one another. My favorite was to hear "Fat Albert," their resident hippo munching grass around my tent at night - strangely soothing! All-in-all, I can't wait to go back again. This was a special place, with very special people.

Where there are more resident elephants than guests. Old Mondoro is owned and operated by the Chiawa Camp family, it’s an authentic bush camp that fully immerses its guests in the wildlife and location without compromising comfort and convenience. Combines perfectly with Chiawa Camp.
Madeline and Mark do a great job hosting. Food was excellent. Boat trips very scenic and great for viewing wildlife. Game drives and guides were all top notch. View from our cabin was the Zambezi river where wildlife was always in sight. The lodge does not provide internet access for guests and there is no cell service.

A rustic safari bush camp on the banks of the Kafue River with spectacular views and excellent wildlife sightings. This private and eco-friendly camp contains 4 luxury en-suite tents under thatched roofs, with verandas, hammocks and open air bathrooms with hot showers and flushing toilets. Safari activities include game drives, walking safaris, boat trips, bird watching and fishing. Wildlife that can be seen includes 4 of the Big Five plus cheetah and wild dogs along with more than 450 bird species. We recommend a 3 night minimum stay.
Mayukuyuku was a lovely bush camp. The camp facilities and staff were delightful, and consistently very helpful and solicitous. All of our expectations for a Boot Camp were met, and we had plenty of opportunity to see animals in carefully national park and the game management area across the road. We spent three nights and four days at the site, we drove or went out on a boat every day sometimes twice a day. The game drives were lovely we went in the morning and in the evening, saw a large variety of animals including elephants and K Buffalo, as well as a lot of Zambian bird life. The boat trips were delightful, we went at dawn and sunset, were in waters with many hippos and also saw crocodiles and a variety of birds. It was a peaceful and tranquil site overall, and there was nothing lacking. The food was outstanding, the campsite accommodations were lovely, the water was hot and boundless, and everything was neat and clean and tidy. Our guide, Dominic, was delightful and extremely knowledgeable about the area. The cook was great, and his desserts were sensational. The staff were helpful in every possible way and a real pleasure. The price was perfect for our budget. Good value for money overall. We highly recommend the site, this is our second trip to the site and we were not disappointed.

Great location, great food, but can be a bit uncomfortable in October as there is no pool and no AC or cooling systems and no ceiling fan. One day when we were there it was 107. Hosting and guiding were adequate but not stellar. No internet. Some intermittent weak cell signal.

Peace reigns supreme at The Bushcamp Company's Zungulila, a charming tented camp that embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era. Set on the side of a raised knoll, the beautiful thatched tents look out over the sparkling Kapamba River and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game. Camp can accommodate up to eight guests in four Meru-style thatched tents and offers guided walking safaris, plus day and night game drives (open from May to January).
Great place to relax. Stunning view from the lodges and the common area. Amazing staff who are very welcoming and attentive. Food was wonderful, we looked forward to it every evening. Lodges are perfectly equipped and have an outdoor shower +bath with landscape view. Highly recommended.
