JJS Backpackers Village caters budget travelers. We offer bunk beds in dorm room, double rooms, and tents right on the beach. A very laid back place to relax and meet different travelers around the world. Every afternoon you will be spoilt to sit on the beach and watch amazing sunset and have a drinks.
The resort is incredibly amazing, clean, affordable and they have huge cottages. You will not need an airconditioning as the breeze of the trees and sea are your healthy pleasures! What excites us more is when food is served! Tasteful and always fresh. On important occassions, they staged acoustics.

I booked via their website and prepaid my room 5 months in advance. I printed off a copy of their email confirming my booking. I showed up to check in and no record of my booking. Asked me for a voucher which was never sent to me. After 1/2 hour my booking was honoured. My room was situated on the side of a hill with views out to the surrounding mountains. The bed had clean linen and was comfortable with side tables. There was a small table and a chair and a wardrobe. Lighting was good. The aircon, ceiling fan and TV all worked well. I had to use a power point in the bathroom to recharge my phone. The large tiled bathroom had a separate recessed shower area. Nice hot water shower with average water pressure. The balcony had a table and two chairs. The restaurant menu was primarily local dishes. I usually order chicken curry which was good but only had four different vegetables. Service, in general was pretty good. Reception were able to organise my trike trip to the nearby waterfall. They have a caged monkey here which was pretty sad to see. Nice gardens everywhere. Complimentary trike to the Port. I only stayed here one night but it was an enjoyable stay.

White sand beach, long and wide, picturesque scenery, clear turquoise waters, rich marine life, a starfish sanctuary!Modern amenities, bar and restaurant, indoor and outdoor sports like table tennis, and billiards, beach volleyball, trekking paths to verdant hills and fantastic lookouts.People friendly, lushly romantic, away from the madding crowd.Small paddle boats, floating houseboats or large pumpboats for island hopping are available.Venue for seminars and party, or wedding receptions.
It is a bumpy 4km ride from the main road. I think I was the only guest when I stayed here. This resort is on the eastern side of the island so it is affected by the prevailing winds. The beach is also affected by washed up seaweed but the caretakers are out daily cleaning it up. This is a one beach one resort location. My room had a double bed, single bed, wardrobe with attached table top and a chair. The lighting was good. The aircon unit was fairly quiet and worked well. The only power point was inconveniently located where you had to place your phone on the floor when recharging or use the chair. The large bathroom had a separate recessed shower area. The hot water system worked well as was the water pressure. The basin faucet had virtually no water pressure, it was no more than a dribble. I reported the problem to reception. Dinner from the restaurant needs to be preordered prior to 5pm. You will be totally reliant on the restaurant for meals as there is nothing else around. Food was okay. Mango/banana shakes were excellent. Hopefully they will soon use an alternative to plastic straws. Mosquitos are out playing once the sun goes down so use a repellent. Internet data can be slow at times. The resort's wifi is unreliable. Customer service is limited to your requests. DO NOT miss out on walking up to the viewpoint. Only a short walk and well worth it for the views. The isolated location makes it a great place to just chill out. The big plus...no roosters.

Be just prepared to hear everything including everyone farting and snoring!! The beach is ok but Paliton is right next door. Not enough showers for the amount of tents. And make sure u ask for a tent facing the ocean otherwise you see only tents! A bit expensive for what it is....

Pro's: Cold aircon, fast wifi, hot & cold shower, cable TV, soft bed, clean pillows & comforters. The food on the restaurant was good. I still enjoyed the beach even it was low tide. The place is very peaceful & private. Con's: I was surprised that there were no table, chair and cabinet on the room. We ended up putting our things just on the bed. We only availed their deluxe room, but I think it should be a standard to have those even on a basic room. There were no towels, so I had to ask & was given immediately. Mosquitoes were flying all around the room, so I had to ask for insecticide to do the cleaning myself. I saw dead cockroach after cleaning. The water pressure was weak so I had to ask pail & dipper. The room was really small & not well-lit, so I suggest you add more lights to make those brighter. There were no complimentary soap & toothpaste, just shampoo, conditioner & tissue. You will get busy protecting your food from flies on the restaurant. They charge 10% service fee also. The seashore had many sea grass early on the morning. They started sweeping at 9am or 10am already. We requested a car to pick us up upon check-out. We made the reservation a night before & made a follow-up in the morning to ensure the car will arrive on time & the receptionist acknowledged this. However, 15 mins had passed but no car arrived. Good thing another tourist car was nearby & we chose to ride that at a higher rate though.
