Welcome to Östersunds Stugby & Camping, one of Swedens largets holiday villages. Here you live next door to a water park and nature sites and you are only a few steps away from the city center. We are open all year around and we offer everything from cozy villas to all types of campsites.
Rented an appartement 16.-19. of may 2019. The appartement was dirty. Had to clean the bathrom before use. All the plates, cups etc had a thin layer of fat on them. Had to clean everything before use. We ended up buying plastic forks and knives, and cardboard plates. Was quiet the first night and then all hell broke loose. 30-40 guests arrived and they party’d late. They didn’t respect the quiet by 23 o’clock at all. We didn’t sleep much that night. Complained to the manager, but they didn’t care. «Call the police yourself» they said. It was not their problem. We left one day earlier due to this and wanted a refund for atleast one night. Didn’t get it. Answers from the manager was terrible customer service. Will never stay at this camping again and I will not recommend it to others. Picture of email from management is posted.

As well as tents and a caravan site, you will also find cottages and self-service rooms.
On our way from Messlingen to Östersund we stopped for lunch at Åsarna Ski Center Restaurant in Åsarna. We were advised by a local that they have an excellent traditional kitchen and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere is very nice with old cross country skiing attributes and an exhibition of an abundent number of olympic medals won by local skiers. These days they have a traditional Swedish Christmas buffet (jul bord) for Sek 90, which really is a bargain.

Hammarstrand camping, Beautiful campsite between Östersund and Sundsvall on the Indalsälven. We are open all year round. We rent out stuga's and a 2 person bungalow incl. Shower and kitchen. The campsite is in a quiet location surrounded by nature and overlooks the river Indalsälven where you can swim and fish from the campsite. There are also boats and canoes for rent and directly from the campsite you can go up the river, in high season the heated pool is open. We have a heated sanitary building fully equipped with a disabled shower and toilet, a fully equipped kitchen is available, a washing machine and dryer can be used for a small fee. There is a separate room where you can empty your toilet from the caravan / camper. At the campsite there is a small café with terrace where you can order sandwiches, have breakfast, eat a delicious ice cream or eat a small meal or bring it to your camping equipment. There is a small shop for forgotten groceries. Welcome on Hammarstrand camping
We have been on this camping for 4 days, just after midsommar and in Covid19 time. Fisrt a compliment to housekeeping. Everything was very clean and enough desinfection for your hands everywhere were needed. Big enough camping places in sun or shadow... The view over the rivier was stunning. The couple who runs the place are very kind and helpfully. There is a breakfast and diner opportunity if you like. Also there is a hottub, BBQ cabin and bastu available for rent... We had the hottub. It was nice with, again, view over the river. There are a lot of things to see and in the area. Like... *Döda Fallet *The old wooden church of Hammarstrand, *The hanging bridge and lots of hiking trails. *The Thai paviljon Thank you for having us and we will be back for sure.

The camping-area is located next to the river Indalsalven and Ristafallet waterfall. On the campsite there are 23 pitches and 8 cabins. The cabins have a shared bathroom and are suitable for 4 persons.
You find Ristafallet Camping between Järpen (7 km) and Åre (17 km) close to the E14 road. You can set up your tent, park your caravan/camper or rent a cabin on site. We rented a cottage for five days on this charming, relaxed camping. Besides the beds, a table and chairs we found an electric cooker and a refrigerator. We could take a shower and go to the bathroom at the service house, eqipped with toilet paper (which many other campings do not provide) and paper towels. There were also a kitchen with all kind of household equipment you’d ever need, including microwave ovens, a washing machine and a dryer. So much household equipment I could only find in better hotel apartments. For a camping it was really impressing. But what was even more impressing and made our stay there even more pleasurable was the hosts, a nice couple who run the camping. They were very kind and helpful. For all these reasons I can wholeheartedly recommend Ristafallet Camping for all who visit the nearby waterfalls (mainly Ristafallet, right at this camping) and Sweden’s biggest waterfall Tännforsen 44 km on E14 westward. There are also many hiking trails, tourist attractions and beautiful sights, among them snow covered mountain tops even during summer. This camping is also an ideal starting point to everything you want to see and experiment in the Åre-area.

We stayed here on Tuesday 26th May 2020. Our hosts Olov and Kristina Forsberg were delightful. The evening meal of röding (char) was exceptional and the best meal I’ve had in Sweden to date. Pricewise it would be what you would expect to pay in a good restaurant, not cheap but value for money. The breakfast was also comprehensive (included) and equally to the best standards. The site is rustic in nature with chickens clucking and all in all quite rurally relaxing. We were the only ones there so I’m guessing it was still very much pre-season and to my mind the site needed a bit of tidying up. Then again, that’s only me. Bed and Breakfast in Sweden is odd, from an English standpoint. Sometimes towels, sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers are provided, sometimes not (you always get the duvets and pillows). When travelling you need to have all this stuff with you. This is one of four overnight stops and four reviews during our trip from Hargshamn to Kiruna and back where we experienced every variation of facility. The accommodation and toiletry facilities were disappointing for the price. We were in a stand-alone little wooden cabin. Charming in its way and with clean (seemingly new) bedding and towels and comfortable beds. But, that’s it. No running water, no toilet, no sink, it was simply a comfortable place to sleep. There was only one toilet and shower facility some 25 metres from the accommodation. It was inconvenient for just us so with more people staying you might find yourself in a queue. All in all, a pleasant experience, only diminished by being a 73-year old bloke with a typically enlarged prostate. Verdict: I would come here again, but next time have one of the cabins with a loo and shower. Price: B&B 1 night’s stay, two people, breakfast, evening meal (with wine) (£134.03). (SEK 1530) (My only mistake here was using a credit card (instead of my Transferwise card) and paying in their bank’s version of an exchange rate. That cost an additional €7.00.)

This self-catering guesthouse is located in a lovely wooded area overlooking fields and a lake. It is totally quiet and blissfully peaceful. We spent 2 nights staying in the rustic but very comfortable and warm cabin which is about 20 metres away from the main building with shared bathroom and kitchen. There are also other rooms in the main building. If you don't mind walking to the toilet, the cabin is very private and peaceful. The lake is an enjoyable 30 minute walk from the guesthouse along forest trails and a quiet road with farms. The hosts, Gea and Willem are friendly and helpful. Willem speaks excellent English and gives useful local tips. Unfortunately we missed seeing a bear which was spotted the morning we were there! There isn't a lot to do here in autumn unless you're keen on hunting or fishing. We were happy to just sit and relax and listen to the quiet. The drive to spectacular Hallingsafallet falls is about an hour and there are walking tracks from there. A lovely place to rest and relax. Recommended.
