Unfortunately this "hotel" is nothing like the photos or description. A menu was provided, however, there was no food available for dinner. We waited an hour and a half for some noodles. Some metal from the cooking utensils were found in the food. There was no toilet paper or toiletries available in the bathroom. The bed linen was unclean. Overall this accomodation was not up to standard advertised and would have tarnished our adventure only for we checked out early and moved elsewhere.

Sigiri Jungle Camping

best camp site in sri lanka!

Reviewed By paulgP7744LZ

Jungle Camp Site Sygiria was exactly what we wished for on our journey in Sri Lanka! We highly recommend you to stay there and enjoy some nights in the forest of Sigiriya with a lovely, supporting and traditional hosting Family that takes deep care of their visitors if you wish with your own tent or renting one of many the host owns! The tents bring clean mattresses and running electricity and a own extra roof for rain and wind protection. The facilities there are so clean and good like we don’t even see it on European camping sites - even better the shower that works fantastic with warm running water is with an open roof so you can even enjoy watching birds and squirrels while taking a shower! The toilet too is comfortable and clean, still private but not to far away from the campsite. We had breakfast there in the roofed cottage that was made with lot of effort, cause It came with a variety of delicious Sri Lankan traditional food - sweet and salty, additional with some fruits, coffee and juice! For dinner we bought some rice, vegetables and Soja-chunks in a shop were our host helped us prepare it - ok actually he took over as a learned cook and even explained and showed us how they usually prepare it - so we actually had a cooking class were we learned a lot about the usage of spices and herbs and how they prepare their own coconut milk and sauces and the food came out super delicious!!! All in all we didn’t wanted to leave anymore, cause it was our most special time being in nature and still with locals having insights in their way of living and we had great conversations too. Also he brought us to Pidarangula at 5 in the morning with his bike that is only 10 minutes away and organized us a tour to the eco park were we saw plenty of elephants so close like never, with a privat driver and Jeep for a fair price!

Beautiful place in the tea fields

I spent 3 nights in the resort and I enjoyed it a lot. I stayed in a one of the cabins with great view from the windows and terrace. The place itself is beautiful and peaceful. Rooms are clean with simple and tasteful design, matching the surroundings. The food was soo great and chef adjusted the menu to our preferences (vegetarian). The staff was extremely hospitable, helpful and supportive at any time, also sharing useful tips about trekking and sightseeing the area. Great base for (trekking) trips such: Laxapana waterfall, Aberdine waterfall, Adam's peak.

Back To Nature

This is an Eco friendly camp. Our tents were perched 4 metres off the ground and accessed by a ladder. There are two double tents set each end of a sturdy platform. These are built for an actual booking and removed until another one. It was a great experience with top staff - 6 in all. They were knowledgeable, polite and nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner on the edge of the river where a brazier was lit to keep the crocodiles at bay. The table was set with a linen cloth, quality utensils and candles. The eating area was further enhanced by burning torched. All our meals were of high standard except for the two picnics served on safari, fruit in polystyrene and boxes of juice, carried in p,astic bags. That was the only let down. We saw many exotic birds, water buffalos, lots of small exotic wildlife, families of baby quails, monitor lizards, monkeys galore and peacocks dancing in front of the jeep, but only a couple of elephants. A word of warning, the ladder is not for people with disabilities and the jeep is tricky to get in and out of.

Puetz Travels Beach Resort

The best end of our holiday!

Reviewed By Diannevs

This place is fantastic to relax and end (or start!) your holiday in Sri Lanka. Really nice houses, great pool, next to the beach. The owners Markus and Jutta and their daughters are very friendly and helpful. They thought about everything in their resort: the lights in the garden, the cold water pool, extra towels, .... B/c of this it also feels more western, but for us this was nice after one month in Sri Lanka with small kids. We definitely recommend them!
