May 30, 2021 Giuseppe Pratt

The land of the midnight sun awaits on the northern shores of Great Slave Lake in Yellowknife, a small but diverse city famous for its spectacular wilderness. Sitting on the edge of the Arctic Circle, the city enjoys summer days with nearly 24 hours of sunlight, and dark winter skies lit up by aurora borealis. Once a gold rush town and now a diamond mining town, Yellowknife is the hub of northern activities, ranging from dog sledding and cross-country skiing to backpacking and birding.

I will never do this again specially with this Company. Awful experience! The dogs are malnourished and skinny and they say the dogs have no fat and its all muscle that's why they look so thin. Seriously? The dogs are not even husky nor Malamute alaska, they are just poor stray dogs who ended up there, who are chained in that brutal weather. I don't know how bad they are forced to work but one of the dogs who was in the sled fell and it was being dragged by the other dogs. Can you imagine how tired he was! Total animal abuse!

We joined many tour groups throughout our 5 night stay in Yellowknife, and this was the best one. Originally, we were only going to be with this tour group for one night (March 17, 2020) but because we were so happy with their performance, we decided to join them again next day on March 18, 2020. Our driver, Amit, was really kind and patient with us to explain the Auroras, which other companies didn’t do. Also, the tour guides, named Nikki & Amy, took a lot of photos for all of us. They are very professional! We are very pleased to join this tour!!!

The teepee at the camp draws an excellent composition in the background for taking photos with the Aurora. Even the cultured paintings on the teepee made the teepee so delicate to take a photo with. The furs displayed in the camp are superb when you slide back and forth on the fur with your hands.

Canada is much more than vancouver, Toronto or Vancouver. You must experience the warmth of Yellowknifers, in spite of the cold weather, they are very welcoming, and you fell relaxed. You must visit the museum and learn about the history of the city, the mining industry (diamonds). But come prepared with warm clothes if you come in winter. A must do is a night chasing the AURORA BOREALIS. The best in the world.
