The smaller half of Trinidad and Tobago, the 116-square mile island is a top eco-tourism destination. Its rainforest has been protected since 1776. Kayak through mangrove swamps, mountain bike testing trails in the island's northeast, drift dive with manta rays and sharks, hike the Rainforest Reserve or take in the distinctive Tobago pursuits of goat and crab racing. Cars, taxis and "maxi taxi" minibuses make it easy to get around the island. Carnival sees this exuberant island at its most extroverted.

Castara Bay is located off the leeward coast of Tobago and set in the small fishing village of Castara. This small beach is one of the island’s hidden gems. When you are not enjoying the sparkling blue water, you can enjoy the sandy beach shaded by many palm trees and coconut trees, or watch the fishermen preparing the nets to bring in their daily catch. Some visitors have even helped with the nets–an experience in an of itself. Visitors to Castara Bay have fallen in love with it stating things as “tropical small island cove,” and “fell in love with the place [and] will be back. If you are looking to experience the unspoilt beauty of the island, Castara Bay is a must see! Snorkeling, swimming, relaxing…Be sure to bring your sunscreen as the Tobago sun can be very hot. Parlatuvier Bay is located at the North Western end of the beautiful island of Tobago, about a 45-50 minute drive from Scarborough. The rugged rocks closing this bay off from the Caribbean Sea is just one thing that sets this beach apart from the others. The beach is surrounded by the local fishing village which adds its own unique charm to the area. As many of the beaches of Tobago, Parlatuvier Bay has found itself the center of many photographs you see of the Caribbean. Those visiting this amazing beach have left saying things such as, the “view from up top before arriving will blow your mind,”and “the beach is very much like a postcard." If you are looking to experience the unspoilt beauty of Tobago, Parlatuvier Bay is worth the visit. Be sure to bring your sunscreen as the Tobago sun can be very hot. Mount Irvine Bay has one of the island’s most popular beaches for surfing, from December to March. Mount Irvine beach is also a great spot for snorkeling to enjoy Tobago’s beautiful marine life. Mount Irvine beach actually has two sides, one owned by the Mt. Irvine Bay Hotel but both beach stretches are open to the public. The beach also offers small huts for shade, tables and seating, life-guards, and a restaurant music and bar for those taking a break from the warm sun. Those visiting Mount Irvine beach have referred to it as “child friendly,” a “wonderful safe place to enjoy the ocean with family and friends,” and that “the locals and the evening bonfires light this beach up.” Be sure to bring your sunscreen as the Tobago sun can be very hot.
