And many lovely smaller towns dot the gorgeous green landscape. Alphen aan den Rijn has several interesting attractions, including Dutch history theme park Archeon. I booked the tour, renting a electric car to see the beautiful flowers of Keukenhof. Unfortunately, due to Covid the park was closed and I was not able to visit. The Netherlands is/was closed to all tourists. I asked for a refund and was denied. They said they are not affiliated with the park and would not refund the paid even though it would have been impossible for me to use their services/electric cars.

A fun trip despite the drizzle and a great way to see the flower fields and get off the beaten track. Easily able to make frequent stops to have a closer look or take photos. Plenty of time to go at your own pace. I'll be booking other trips in the spring. Highly recommended. I didn't try the back seat but not entirely convinced how good a ride an adult will have there, and you'd need to be fit and able to easily get in and out of a confined space.

Fantastic experience! My favorite thing I did while visiting Amsterdam. The guide is from the area near Zaanse Schans and is so knowledgeable about it. You visit a lot of local shops - cheese tasting, clog making demonstration, chocolate production, and inside a windmill. I gained so much more than I would’ve by coming to Zaanse Schans on my own - and honestly, it’s so gorgeous that going there while in the area is a must!
