This city on the central Vietnamese coast is a well-preserved example of the important Southeast Asian trading port it was from the 15th-19th centuries. Already a common stop for backpackers, it is becoming better known to tourists. On the 14th day of each lunar month, the town trades its electric lights for traditional colored lanterns. Sights include the Japanese Covered Bridge and the Quan Cong Temple. Let the town’s expert tailors make you some bespoke clothing.

The tour was great, our guide spoke English very well. The transport van was nice, clean and cool. The tour took you to Sun World which is kind of like Vietnam Disney- everything is made as a tourist attraction, the only original French part from the 1900s is the wine cellar. All very cool and fun to see- the gardens are beautiful. Definitely a lot of people there, but can time it to still get some good pictures. Only con would be the lunch...mostly because of the coronavirus outbreak, a buffet is the last place you want to eat, plus it wasnt very good.

It carries an amazing value of combination between many mable and limestone caves. Monkey Mountain should be on religion/culture lovers’ checklist. I was very fortunate in visiting on a sunny, cloudless day, if a little hazy. I found the bridge somewhat disappointing, not being as long as I had anticipated and full of tourists intent on blocking the entire path taking pictures of their partners. The gardens however were very impressive and I was fortunate in catching the dancing show. It is a further 750,000 dong to go on to Ba Na Hills, It certainly is a long cable car ride and the site on the top of the mountain is impressive, probably reflecting the high cost of the ticket. This seemed a Disneyland copy but without the crowds, thankfully due to the virus. It seemed full of restaurants which I did not check to see were open. There were amusements and the shortage of visitors gave me the opportunity to ride a dodgem car and go on the roller coaster which goes down the mountain and, somewhat surprisingly, has a handbrake. I enjoyed the day but it is expensive for what is there but if I had chosen a wet day, I would have been very disappointed since the outdoor features and views are the main attraction.

We were guided by River, who was a lovely and funny young lady. She kept us informed and entertained (mainly by her humour) throughout the trip. It was lovely riding out to the vegetable village. It really isn't far out of Hoi An but you did feel you get a regional experience. Riding through the town was fun, a bit of an adrenaline rush for me. The restaurant where we made the dumplings was OK. The ladies that make the dumplings and do the demonstration didn't seem very happy. The dumplings were pretty tasty though. The bikes were very old and could use replacing. Make sure to check your brakes work before you leave the meeting point!
