The museum as a whole is an amazing interesting place. Lots of great displays and town replicas. Model train show was as spectacular as usual, Wheatland Express and simulator was great. Had a snack at the extremely busy restaurant and was great. Food is good and quite reasonable pricing. A definite must see in Saskatoon! Check out the Steam Train...Its unreal

I visited here with my family. Although a second generation Canadian as my grandparent immigrated to Canada from Ukraine, this brought back so many memories of growing up and visiting the farm and hearing Babas' and Gidos' stories. Nice exhibits on why Ukrainians came to Canada, how they got here and how they settled in their new country.

Longest bike path in Canada. Nice walk along the river with plenty to see: wildlife watching, like pelicans and Canadian geese, full of monuments and historic buildings, has outdoor playground and recreational gym facilities and kayak rental, tennis courts and plenty of cafes, galleries and shops with outdoor sitting to enjoy the Meewasin masterpiece landscaping that makes it pleasant for the eye at any time of the year. The Diefenbaker Center is a historic monument to the Canadian Prome Minister from Saskatchewan. Building is located near his burial and has a nice river view. Very nicely gathered collection of the WWI and II artifacts, hockey themed Canadian trophies and accomplishments, the original design of the Prime Minister’s work office, his university gown, personal items and a round table room with photos of his cabinet. All of this has fitted in a small building that you can tour in 20 minutes to an hour. It also has a gift shop with nice and creative items to choose from for a souvenir.

The Bassment

The Bassment is a great live jazz and roots music venue in the heart of downtown Saskatoon. Every weekend begins with no cover Piano Friday - live piano, friends, food, and fun. Piano Fridays run from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. As for our shows, there are about two to four every week, sometimes up to six! We provide the best live music experience: great acoustics, atmosphere, drinks, and food. For each event, the doors are open 1 hour prior to the show (Fridays being an exception: then, they are open at 4:30 pm because of Piano Fridays). The Bassment is an all ages venue.

We recently attended the Neil Currie evening featuring Billy Joel songs. As always, it was a great evening. Neil had a head cold, which affected his voice, but he still did a great job and brother Grant filled in nicely at the end when Neil’s voice gave out. The Bassment offers a cosy atmosphere, with good food and drinks. We have always found the service to be good, and our waitress on Saturday was no exception. It is a great gem for our city.

Great weekend fun place to spend time at. Fresh local produce and vendors, reasonably priced and authentic atmosphere make you want to come back. Perfect for Saskatoon berry pies and deli meats, cafe by the entrance is also very goo with fresh and tasty sandwiches and coffee. Cozy and fun in winter too. There are ice sculptures presented by Potash Corp. Great place for a visit, close to downtown and on the way of Meewasin trail, so a good place to stop for a coffee and a dessert.
