Lots of trains available for climbing into and seeing how past generations travelled by rail. There is also a little tourist track train so the kids feel that they have had a ride and the big kids get an overview of the trains restored here.

This museum has a variety of very well displayed exhibits, some interactive, ranging from mock up bunks and toilet in a migrant sailing ship, beach wear and dolphins, to a replica ketch. It’s on several floors but there is a lift. There’s something to see and do for all ages and the entry costs are reasonable. There’s a nice little shop but parking close by can be a problem when the area is busy.

An amazing aviation museum and a credit to the volunteers who keep it going. A place to take your time while wandering around, as you will keep finding things to look at. Not just aircraft large and small, but lots of smaller exhibitions to look at and pour over. Very glad we took the time to visit.

The three of us did a brewery tour on a Saturday night a couple weeks ago with the well-informed & passionate beer loving tour guide Matty. He went above and beyond and gave us the full tour of the brewery. A great insight into the beer processes, would recommend!

As I saw a “Free Bike Hire” sign, I went in to make an inquiry for my friend. I was very surprised to hear that they have no restrictions but require a photo ID and a secondly ID. They provide a helmet and a lock and you can ride all day and return the bike by 5pm. A friendly and helpful staff gave me a map of Port Adelaide heritage area and a couple of maps for cycling and walking in Adelaide. I called on the following day about the age limit, as at Xi’an City Wall in China, they didn’t allow those over 65 to hire bicycles for their safety (i.e., to prevent from falling and breaking bones). But here in Adelaide it’s up to the persons to make decisions.

On disembarking our cruise ship there was a band playing on the quay to greet us whilst outside the immediate port area there were a host of volunteers assisting the Metro staff to welcome and help us. Some stopped the traffic so we could cross the road for the train into Adelaide and others had train tickets in their possession to alleviate us having to queue at the crowded ticket booth. They were so friendly and welcoming and gave us a brilliant start to our day; we couldn’t have wished for better. The return train tickets cost 10AUD each for the half hour journey into Adelaide and the trains ran every 30 minutes. Thank you to all the lovely people who greeted and helped us; please be assured that we really appreciate your welcome and the generous giving of your time. We were so impressed with your kindness.

This venue is an absolute hidden gem in Port Adelaide. From the outside you look at it and could easily turn around and drive off! Nooo....it is absolutely worth a visit....and its full of South Australian history, and...its all run via Volunteers. Although its a little bit out of the way from the Port city center.... its a short drive.(5 minutes). Now I have ticked the box 2-3 hours and we spent just over 2 hours there, and could have been long if not having to get to the pub before the kitchen closed. I have to say, that it is weird to look at...tow converted containers and what looks like a ruined vessel....looks are deceiving Not only are the Vollies extremely knowledgeable, but they also give you personalized tours(in our case just the 2 of us but a group came off before us) of INSIDE the vessel. Slowly but surely the Vollies are doing it up...back to as close as possible to what it was originally. Its a piece of history...in my view the No1 thing to do in Port Adelaide. .. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED....PLEASE VISIT AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED..REASONABLE PRICE...CHECK IT OUT ON FACEBOOK .....

These markets have been around for many years. It is a pleasant way to spend as much time as you want looking at typical market style stalls. Plenty of room between stalls to allow for social distancing. The Old Port has some interesting things to look at and certainly worth driving out to Port Adelaide to have a look.
