Loihakka specialises in husky safaris. We are based in Varjakka, Oulu, Finland. In summer we also offer guided tours to the historical sawmill of the Varjakansaari Island. Our huskies love their work and we love to see them wagging their tails and eager to go. For this reason, our kennel is open on bookings only: as pack leaders, we want to make sure that our dogs have at least one full day of rest all to themselves. We have no minimum group size, so you are warmly welcome to visit our kennel on your own, too.

The best place ever!! I go there every year at the summer, super entertaining and educational! The place has multiple floors, and each floor is huge and filled with activities that explain physics and science in such a pleasant, easy and attractive way. Every now and then they also add new activities which makes it even more interesting. would definitely recommend, this place never fails to keep me entertained. Been visiting the place since I was 8, and im 19 now :)

A windy beach, but the water was surprisingly warm. Lots of people on a sunny day. Loads of ice cream kiosks. An interesting lighthouse. A must when you visit Oulu in summer.

Beautiful park with many little streams and white bridges. Nice little dog friendly cafe and good playground for kids. Great especially summertime. Also home for outdoor theater during July.

Although this museum is quite small, it has many changing exhibitions. On our visit, there was 'The Modern Woman' exhibition which showcased four important Finnish female artists who worked in the early 20th century, Helene Schjerfbeck being the most famous. Upstairs was an exhibition 'The Hype In The Arctic Silicon Valley' which is a story about the Miracle of Oulu, a mobile phone city that bloomed from the 1960s until the turn of the millennium.

The old church from 1777 was destroyed in the big Oulu fire in 1822. The current stone cathedral was completed in 1832 over the ruins of the old church. It was made according to the neoclassical designs of the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel who also designed the Helsinki Cathedral. The interior is very beautiful.

This museum is located in the beautiful river delta of the Oulujoki River. The museum building of 1920s classicism is quite impressive in itself. The beauty lies inside. We have visited this museum before but every time there is something new in addition to permanent exhibitions. For a tourist, it is practical that you can find the Oulu Museum of Art and Science Centre Tietomaa nearby.

Beautiful part of Oulu, market square with policeman next to beautiful indoor market. We were there with a bunch of colleagues and very much enjoyed the place, had a good coffee nearby and then moved for a dinner. If you end up in Oulu then that is the part of the city to be visited for sure !
