Former Canterbury Bankstown Bulldog Peter Mortimer, his wife Julie and their five sons - Michael, James, Tim, Daniel and Robbie planted Chestnut Garth vineyard in 1996.The original Old March Schoolhouse, located in front of our vineyard, was puchased in 2007 and has worked perfectly for us as our Cellar Door. Open weekends from 11 - 5 pm we do wine tastings, serve hot soup in winter by the open fire, as well as ploughmans platters, coffee and homemade cakes. Located just 4 kms from the northern distributor.
We visited the winery late one afternoon and were the sole tasters, bringing Peter in from the picking in the paddocks. He provided 9 wines to taste and was about the most relaxed and informative cellar door practitioner we have come across. The wines were excellent and the history of how Peter started from scratch to where he is today was inspiring. Reminiscing about his Rugby league career was an added bonus...

Was driving through the area and decided to pop in for a wine tasting. Deb was very accommodating, friendly and gave us some great insight in to their amazing wines. The area is gorgeous as was the cottage style area for tasting. Beautifully decorated and super cosy indoors it had such a nice homey feel. We chose to sit outside in the sunshine which was also a lovely area, provided with hats for the sun and blankets for the cooler afternoon temperatures. We were given a yummy selection of cheeses and dips/spreads to accompany the beautiful wines. You could certainly lose track of time sitting in the sun sipping wine and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The friendly dog and fluffy sheep also make for great company. Would certainly recommend a vist for anyone in the area! We will be back again for sure.

The people of Orange are so lucky to have such a glorious amenity on their doorstep. I strongly suggest walking around the lake in a counter-clockwise direction. After strolling through the forest, you'll end up at the high point of the circumnavigation, the dam wall, with its unbeatable views on all sides.

Well worth a visit for anyone coming to Orange, it has a very good Collection thanks to a generous benefactor and often has interesting guest artist exhibitions as well - all well curated. It’s co-located with the museum, which is also worth visiting.

A friend and I attended the sausage making class with the amazing Stefan Bermili. The barrel & larder cooking school is a great space and staff were very friendly and attentive. The booking process was very easy and the class itself provided an abundance of knowledge not previously known about the sausage making process. 10/10 would recommend again

My bestie and I visited Stockman’s Ridge for an amazing bonfire and wine experience. We sat under the stars, sipping wine and eating cheese in front of the bonfire in this beautiful setting. The customer service was exceptional and the evening memorable and will definitely return for more.

Quite a trek up stairs in the bush but well worth it. Signs indicate it takes 15min to walk up and I think that’s a reasonable estimate for a person with average fitness levels. Once up top, you’re greeted with 360 degree views and a wonderful cool breeze to whip off your sweat from the walk up. Well worth it.

We visited this fabulous playground with 5 children aged between 6-12 years old. Everyone LOVED it. Lots of swings, slides and places for imagination plus a scooter track too! We spent a few hours here and this kids still weren’t ready to leave. There are lovely places to have a picnic too with picnic tables. It’s right next door to the Botanical Gardens which we enjoyed a walk through to get to the playground ( even though it can be accessed via car with a car park next to it )
