The Transportation Museum at Ystafell is the oldest car museum in Iceland and has one of the largest collections of cars in the country. It also features many other types of vehicles and plenty of antique treasures to discover.
Amazing place for people who love history and love cars, personally i think this is one of the most uniqe museum in iceland, i am going to visit this place everytime i drive by because the experience you get is so unreal. Love this place and love the people that own it.

One of Iceland’s largest falls, Godafoss has an important role in the country’s history... the trails and parking areas have been newly constructed, and access is easy (right off the Ring Road east of Akureyri) which makes it very popular with visitors. There’s a convenience store/gas station plus restaurant nearby too. Enjoy!

The Húsavík Whale Museum is a non-profit organization established in 1997. The Húsavík Whale Museum is situated in Húsavík, a small town in north east Iceland, on the shores of Skjálfandi Bay, just below the Arctic Circle at 66° N. The museum’s purpose is to educate the public about whales, with emphasis on the species occurring in the North Atlantic. The exhibition provides informative and attractive displays that have the capacity to raise awareness about cetaceans and their environment. The scientific component includes an introduction to the museum’s research, which has been expanding since 2001 and now includes international collaborations and publications. The museum was acknowledged as an educational facility by the Icelandic Ministry of Education in 2007.
If you do whale watching tour, which I highly recommend, then you will get 10-20% discount for this museum and some restaurants. This is worth it. They have free filter coffee inside.

One of the most peaceful & beautiful places to visit in the city. We came in June & the amount of flora was unbelievable some of the plant life here is breathtaking. The smell of fresh flowers & sounds of bird life will make you want to stay for hours especially considering they have a beautifully designed cafe in the centre.

Legend says Asbyrgi Canyon was formed when Odin's horse Sleipnir touched a foot to the ground there. The remarkable horseshoe shape of the 100 meter high cliffs with lush forested areas and water full of bird life in the canyon itself make for a beautiful and serene setting. We were lucky enough to arrive on a sunny day which just added to the beauty. There are not many tourists here, in fact it was almost eerily silent in certain spots which was a nice break from the more heavily trafficked attractions in the South. We took road 864 from the Ring Road to get here with a stop at Dettifoss/Selfoss. The condition of the road was surprisingly good the day we went with speeds typically between 50-60 km/h handled easily in our 4x4, though smaller cars would definitely need to take it a little slower.

Drawing on a centuries-old tradition, the tastefully designed complex offers bathers a completely natural experience that begins with a relaxing dip amidst clouds of steam rising up from a fissure deep in the Earth´s surface, and ends with a luxurious swim in a pool of geothermal water drawn from depths of up to 2.500 metres.Containing a unique blend of minerals, silicates and geothermal microorganisms, the warm, soothing waters of Mývatn Nature Baths are beneficial to skin and spirit alike, creating a sense of wellbeing which lingers on as a lasting memory of your visit to this spellbinding area at Europe´s outer limits.Facilities on offer include a reception area and restaurant seating 120 guests, changing rooms and showers for up to 300 guests, two natural steam baths accommodating up to 50 bathers at a time, and a 5000m2 geothermal bathing pool maintained at a constant temperature of 38-40ºC.
The Myvatn nature Baths are set in an outdoor area with hot springs contained in naturally landscaped areas where one can enjoy the baths and the scenery. They are very reasonable priced compared to the Blue Lagoon, not in a man made setting and much less crowded. They include changing rooms, showers, sauna, geothermal pools and a nice restaurant with a viewing area to eat and relax upstairs with a good view of the pools.

One of the main attractions of the Mvatn area, this waterfall is 100 meters across, half as high, and one of the highest-volume in Europe. That said, it is not one of my absolute favourites as it is about massive power rather than good looks. Get there in the morning and a rainbow (or more than one) arches over the river downstream of the falls. There are extensive paths so you can view from different angles. If you have time, drive the gravel road 864 to see the falls from the other side of the river too; this gives you the bonus of a wonderful view down the Asbyrgi canyon.

Just getting into a hot pot is a great thing to do in Iceland. The swimming pool in Dalvik is well maintained and clean, and the staff is very friendly. Having several hot pots with different temperatures and actual swimming lanes everyone will find the right thing to do to enjoy himself.
