Ruins of Kerkouane

Reviewed By Tracypun - Hong Kong, China

Since 250 BC, it had been abandoned and no reconstruction after the Roman conquer. But the ruins are still kept well even up to now. Visitors can freely walk around and enjoy the waves attacking the sea coast nearby. Bear in mind that it’s always windy.

Musee des Religions

The Museum of Religions is recognized by an original tower resembling the minaret of Jamaa Zitourna, a Tunisian Mosque considered as one of the largest in Africa as well as a church bell. Unique in its kind, this museum restitutes the three monotheistic religions in this one place, a sign of dialogue and tolerance. The Museum of Religions houses objects of collection, gravures, manuscripts, descriptions of rituals and symbols of the three monotheistic religions. Here, models represent architectural fittings of great fame, such as the Mosque Okba Ibn Nafi' of Kairouan, the Basilica with five naves of Damous el-Karrita of Carthage, the Ghriba of Djerba and the Chapel of Saint-Louis. The place is devoted to all the religions that have existed in Tunisie

It is great to see a museum celebrating the unity and brotherhood of those 3 religions. It is one of a kind, and it's in Tunisia! The highlight of that visit was the guide, AbdelKader, definitely. He is such a bright, clever and ever passionate guide who spent all the time of our visit taking time to make sure that we truly understand every single item of this wonderful museum. He even succeeded to get my mom to actually be interested in History :p Overall, absolutely outstanding!

Hammamet Beach

Reviewed By janchap121212 - Mablethorpe, United Kingdom

Find all the beaches in Tunisia beautiful. The hotels keep the beaches in front of them spotless. There are normally flags denoting wether it's safe to swim or not. Be careful of jellyfish washed up on beaches after rough weather along with tons of seaweed, saying that you can walk for miles along the beaches and they are patrolled by police or security so felt really safe

Natural hot springs

Reviewed By takaharuoda - Dublin, Ireland

This trip may not be for people with no brave heart and those with small children. But if you (and your partner) are brave enough, then a trip to Korbous and Ain Atrous (59℃ hot spring or foot spa on stones) would be jolly good. I’ll share my day trip from Tunis in the following. The most important is to take Louage (minibus) twice. I took the first one from the louage station just south to Gare de Tunis, the destination of which is ‘Soliman’. And from Soliman I took the second one to Korbous. In total I paid less than 5 dinars for the one way louages. On the second louage, don’t forget that the FREE natural hot spa ‘Ain Atrous’ is just before Korbous, so I got off the louage at the spot. After enjoying a foot spa there and eating some tasty fish and chips despite the photo, I walked along the beach to Korbous (nobody was swimming in the water for it was in December). It was a walking distance in between, approx. 15 minutes. Arriving at Korbous, I felt a bit empty around the town, but I completed my mission: thalassothérapie. This was astonishingly cheap and indeed ‘thalasso’ (hot seawater, marine mud, algae, and something soothing the skin). I know nothing about the European style across the Mediterranean Sea, but the thalasso quality was lovely for me. Don’t forget your second underpants (or swimming suits) and towel, if you likewise want to enjoy. Finally, while you may wait for a while, I soon caught a louage to Soliman and the fare was the same as before. All in all, one can much enjoy a hidden treasure of Tunisia’s neglected tourism. This resort town should revive much more!

Fort de Kelibia

Reviewed By Elyes-Benachour - Hammamet, Tunisia

A wonderfull archeological site on a rocky promontury with 150 meters high, overlooking the Mediterranean sea and the City of Kelibia. The fort and harbour at Kelibia are a history lovers favourite around Tunisia which help any visitor to take in some history while still giving a salty ocean breeze. The fort itself has Roman structures at the oldest locations with more modern constructs from the 16th century, a great blend of old and newer architecture. This site need much more care, maintenance, garde and cleaning. A must visit when you go to Kelibia.
