One of the oldest homes in the Atlanta area, the Root House is more typical of its time and place than the columned mansions popularized by Gone With the Wind. Though the home and grounds have been meticulously restored to their 1850s appearance, modern touchscreens and interactive displays have been added to help tell the story of the Root family and their enslaved house servants.

Last evening, my husband and I had the distinct pleasure of seeing the first of four “in concert” one night performances of classic musicals this season. The format was excellent: a 36-piece on stage orchestra led by a wonderful conductor and a cast that was superbly impressive. Great voices, talented acting and choreography. We have been to many, many full productions of musicals and operas in London, New York and last month at LaScala Opera House in Milan, Italy. The Atlanta Lyric production stood up with the best of them. It’s just a shame it was a one-night-only gig. But there are three more “in concert” productions scheduled and we plan to be at all of them! Below are photos of the two wonderful leading ladies.

I went to The Escapery for my 16th Birthday with a group of my closest friends and we had tons of fun!! Our game master had such a great sense of humor and was really helpful (I cannot remember his name). We did the Curious Case of Gillian Grace room and unfortunately we didn’t escape but for it being our first escape room we got fairly far into the room. The decorations were really nice and the building was really clean. The only issue there was is that there was no heat because of construction but we did have a space heater in the room with us. I definitely plan to be back again!

Thanks for checking out American Axes! Whether you’re a pro-beard, flannel-wearing axe-throwing regular or a first timer, our goal is the same – for you and your crew to have an unforgettable time. If you’ve never thrown before, our instructors will walk you through the how-to’s on throwing an axe safely, and in a matter of minutes you will experience the primal thrill of hitting the target. For advanced throwers, we have league approved axes and throwing lanes where you can sharpen your skills. We also offer league nights to compete against other axe aficionados. We built American Axes to be a place where we’d want to hang out. We celebrate the things about our country that we love and you will feel our appreciation of the National Parks, sports and competition. If you’re looking to express your inner lumberjack and have a great time, come check out American Axes.
This was our first time axe throwing and we LOVED it. Our instructor was such a nice guy & constantly was checking in on us. They offer beer at a vendor by them & he went and got it for us. Went above & beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience! I do recommend showing up early because they do instructions for the first few minutes & you don’t want it to take up any of your time throwing.

Colorful gardens and park in Marietta. Perfect for picnic lunches in the summer.
Marietta GA is my home. Beautiful period architecture, lovely tree lined streets, friendly staff in all the shops and restaurants, crazy fun to people watch because the two courthouses sit on the square LOL. LOVE the Farmers Market ... nice shaded streets in summer, hot cider in winter just a delightful place to visit for a taste of the "New South"
