León Guided Tours on foot. We will walk along pedestrian streets which will lead us to Casa de Botines, built by the famous modernist Catalonian architect Antonio Gaudí; the Palace of the Guzmanes, the best sample of civil renaissance architecture in Leon and which now houses the Provincial Government’s headquarters; and the Palace of Conde Luna. The Basilica of San Isidoro is Romanesque style architecture and was built by the Leonese monarchs as a palatine church. This church has witnessed important historic events and has hundreds of chapels that display everyday scenes from the Middle Ages. Inside the Cathedral we will admire and talk about its famous medieval stained-glass windows, an authentic lesson to understand how men thought during the Middle Ages. Nowadays, they have been carefully restored in order to recover the colour and splendour they used to have.

Gothic-era cathedral of golden sandstone with soaring stained glass windows and richly decorated West portals.
A magnificent feat of engineering and well worth a visit inside. Enjoyed Pilgrim Mass in this wonderful cathedral

The museum has the wellknown as the Sixtine Chapell of the Romanesque Art because of the 11th century romanesque frescoes, and the mythical chalice related by a recent research with the Holy Grail .
We took at chance on an English tour of this museum and were completely impressed! Besides the Holy Grail claims, their guide was fantastic and did a great job leading us through the history of carvings, paintings and their collections relics. They have been able to save many items from surrounding religious houses that no longer exist, so overlook the hype and enjoy your tour.

Built on the ancient Roman city wall, this museum offered excellent exhibits, demonstrating what Leon and its surrounding area were like during Roman times. It helped me understand the significance of the area for the Romans.

The historic center with its streets and alleyways has large pedestrian-only parts, which make it a pleasure to roam. We enjoyed simply walking around and exploring the area.
