The best way to view the awesome scenery and wildlife of Namibia.... on horseback!
Equitrails Namibia really offers the full package. From livery stables, to riding lessons, to beautiful outrides. My horse is boarded at Equitrails Namibia and I have been fortunate to join many of the outrides, especially the Sun Downer rides and they are amazing! From Dams, to bush, to mountains, to wildlife viewing (kudus, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, many different birds, steenboks, tortoises, jackals). Everything you could possibly want, including a cheeky Gin and Tonic to round it off! Sam's horses are all in tip-top condition and extremely well cared for and happy. Sam is very careful about pairing each horse and rider appropriately. She caters for all ages and levels, from complete beginners to experienced riders. Her compassion and knowledge is second-to-none, both as an instructor and a guide. She is, without a doubt, the best riding instructor and guide I have ever known. Anyone lucky enough to join one of Sam's rides will not regret it! It's a truly wonderful and magnificent experience.

The Warehouse Theatre opened its doors in 1990 in the Old Breweries Building. It is Namibia's premier live entertainment venue and comprises a 300 seater/ 600 standing theatre, Boiler Room (Bar and Bistro) and Cellar of Rock. Freshlyground, Vusi Mahlasela and more recently Dilana and Under Kontrol, to name but a few, have had their Namibian debut on the Warehouse Theatre stage. 2014 Also saw two highly acclaimed performances by South African artist Johnny Clegg's acoustic band. The Boiler Room hosts Open Mic nights every Monday from 20h00, Karaoke nights on Tuesdays, and local live bands on Wednesday nights.

Lovely church, with a lovely architecture, both outside and inside. It's open during the week until 6 PM, during the weekend I found it closed. There was no one inside when I went, so i had a quiet time taking a few photos and absorbing it's simple beauty.

Approximately 38 craft stalls from rural communities, ethnic groups and projects sell Namibian handicraft here, which range from jewellery to carved tree roots. We have the freshest Namibian food and best cheesecake and apple crumble in town! Our Craft Cafe is known all over the world for its stylish and excellent food. We support Namibian micro and small enterprises, and contribute to increase income through the sale of Namibian craft. Over 4,000 producers and their families derive an income from sales of their craft. We support Namibian design and product development, which is reflected in our large range of unique and quality products. We encourage the use of environmentally friendly products and sustainable utilization of Namibian natural resources. Vendors inside the Namibia Craft Centre may stock up to 5% of non-Namibian, but African handi-craft. No goods from outside the continent may be sold inside the Craft Centre. Some handi-craft and materials are hard to come by in Namibia, which is why we have made this concession. Staff should be able to tell you exactly the origin of most goods.
Arrived a little early 0800am , coffee shop was open . The quality and variety of locally made goods is excellent.

Many people simply visit Windhoek as a stop over before Etosha or Soussesvlei, but the history is so rich and importabt. The Owela museum has rich, deep information on the humans that make up Namibia, cultures, and current challenges. There is so much to read here, but it is informative to someone who hopes to learn more. Very grateful we visited and took the time to explore this museum.

Daan Viljoen Game Park.Just 24 km west of Windhoek lies a sanctuary for a relatively large population of game species typical of Namibia's highlands. Proclaimed before Independence to preserve the ecosystem of the Khomas Hochland, the park was named after a former Administrator, Mr Daan Viljoen, who played a major part in establishing the park. The convenient location of the park makes Daan Viljoen an ideal venue for day visits and a perfect stopover for tourists seeking the tranquillity of the bush.FACT FILEPark size: 40 km2Year proclaimed: 1968Natural features: Khomas Hochland Plateau, scenic views of the Windhoek valleyVegetation: Highland shrubland, with various Acacia species, kudu bush (Combretum apiculatum) and buffalo thorn (Ziziphus mucronata).Wildlife: Mammals are springbok, kudu, eland, gemsbok, blue wildebeest, Hartmann's mountain zebra, leopard and klipspringer. The Boma Restaurant and pool area is where leisure, business and day visitors can enjoy scrumptious daily meals and beverages.Conservation successesWith game drives and hiking trails, Daan Viljoen is easily accessible to residents of Windhoek and provides an ideal place for visiting school children to learn more about wildlife and conservation in Namibia.Key management issuesPoaching is problematic due to Daan Viljoen adjoining a high-density residential area. The Augeigas River, which runs through the park, is polluted.
This was a perfect last night stop before the end of my amazing trip around Namibia and Botswana. Very convenient location, only 30 minutes drive to the international airport. The chalets are very comfortable, the food is fresh and delicious and the staff extremely helpful and polite. I spot a couple of animals, such as ostriches, wildebeest, giraffes, and baboons and I love seeing how they are safe in this beautiful area just outside the city. OVERAL: I had a great experience and I even recommend it on my blog Paula Pins the Planet.

Excellent lodge!! It was part of our day tour... had lunch there ... superb food and great service. Wide spread buffet of local and western cuisine. Wine was fantastic. Took the tour of the ranch which was mind blowing. It was open safari and the guide was fantastic with very good knowledge. Was able to learn some interesting facts about giraffes and other animals. One of the Must visit places.
