city garden with flowers and nice lake. You can go for a little hiking, walk or have a nice picknick. It is located in the city, although once you enter you feel being far away from the daily crowd. The park is connecting with another entertainment open air park and is reachable by foot or you can exit the city garden and go by car.

The reviews on Tripadvisor and google all sounded rather dull, with recommendations for pick-nicks, walking, bicycling. Nevertheless, I decided that the location at a lake, helped by the presence of the nearby botanic garden, was worth a shot. So on a Saturday I spent 2 hours in the train and a bit more in the bus, to first visit the botanic garden, and in the afternoon this park. I was pleasantly surprised by the birds and other animals I saw. Many quite common birds, such as a cuckoo, egrets and herons, the southern lapwing (quero-quero), a (wood?) rail, etc. Also capybaras. But I also saw some less common water birds, of which I unfortunately don't know the names. Walking westwards, I saw a minitor lizzard, a colony of spoonbills, a hawk (bluish grey colour), some nice butterflies, kolibris (hummingbirds, beija-flores), and parrots. Walking eastwards at the end of the afternoon, I saw a rabbit, some yellow woodpeckers, and some owls. Altogether, I saw many species that I haven't seen before, or only from a large distance. I think I may come back once to rent a kayak, to see if I can got closer to some of these birds. A guard at the place showed me some pictures of a bright green snake, and he said he also saw some caymen there. Monkeys should also be present, but I missed those. A little drawback for tourism is that the lake is fenced off. Nevertheless I saw many people fishing within the fenced off area, so I guess they make exceptions. I assume they know what they are doing.
