Wow what a find the Bandicoot Brewing was when we were in Echuca. A great place for serious craft beer drinkers, even though there is only a small tasting area. The tasting pallet is a great way to discover your favourite beer. The staff are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Port of Echuca Discovery Centre

The Port of Echuca is a living monument to the 1870's when it was Australia's largest inland port and indeed the third largest port in Australia outside Sydney and Melbourne. Authentic steam driven paddlesteamers depart daily from the Echuca Wharf which originally extended 333 metres in length in the 1880's and has been recently been reconstructed.Home of the TV series "All the Rivers Run", the Port of Echuca will provide you with a glimpse of what live was really like in the late 1800's. With the new Discovery Centre now open, it is indeed an attraction not to be missed.

"What a history the Murray has!" was my first thought after disembarking from the Emmylou. The two-hour ride along the Murray had been nothing but fascinating. Hearing the stories of good old days in Echuca, tasting history before my very eyes and the story of each and every paddle steamer we had come across, our captain that day has been excellent and very knowledgeable. Of course, the lunch we had was icing on top of everything else. It being a warm summer afternoon when we visited, the cold drinks served was a Godsent. I would recommend the Emmylou or something similar if you are looking to cruise down the Murray in leisure comfort and over a meal. As there are only as many people on board as there are available seatings for lunch, the boat is spacious enough to move around and toilets are available. Very worthwhile spending an afternoon on if the history of a town fascinates you.

We called by the museum to get some information on past relatives lived in Echuca, & to find out exactly where the graves are in Echuca cemetery. On a previous visit 3 years ago the lovely lady in the office said to call back on our next visit & they would help . I also found out that some of the exhibits are changed on a regular basis so there will always be something different to see. There is also have some great books on sale. well worth the entrance fee.
