Yuraygir Walking Experiences

The Yuraygir Coastal Walk is one of the most spectacular and diverse in Australia. The biggest challenge for those wanting to undertake the walk self-guided is transport logistics. Whether you want daily walker transfers and/or luggage transfers, or simply a transfer from the end of the track back to your car, Yuraygir Walking Experiences has you covered. This local business specialises in helping groups undertake the walk independently, when it suits them. Book accommodation (YWE can make recommendations) to suit your budget and group. Stay centrally in Minnie Water or Wooli (Stay and Walk Support) and they will get you on the track each day and pick you up to return you to your accommodation. Or if you want to stay along the way (Inn to Inn) they will move your luggage between your accommodation each day. You may even do a combination of both! This crew provides the flexibility to “Walk your way”.

Our breakfast was great, portion generous and well make and the coffee, for a coffee snob such as me, was brilliant. Definitely would plan a return visit or detour when we're next in the area

We were privileged to see the new exhibition of photos of aboriginal people in the 1890s. Unlike many photos that we have seen, two of the photos recorded a close bond between two different aborigines. Such a positive difference from what often look like prison id photos. The representation of persons from different tribes with different headdresses and/or artefacts was also enlightening. We also loved the exhibits in the courtyard - rustic rooser and giant chair. As for the gift shop - what a wonderful superb range of items. My wife fell in love with the carved silver pewter teaspoons, cheese knives etc which features Australian flora: proteas; gumnuts etc. The range of beautiful cards was also a delight. A wonderful experience - and another strong exemplar of regional galleries in Australia.

Christ Church Cathedral

Right place at the right time! Stumbled across a special afternoon of history and hymn singing - including works from the Tiwi Islands- and it was wonderful. The pipe organ was magnificent and the very talented organist played both it, and a grand piano for the "singalong". I took my 85 year old father who still has a beautiful singing voice. For expediency we used a wheelchair and access was easy through a side door. The afternoon tea at interval gave us a chance to speak with others in the congregation and they were very friendly and welcoming. This lovely cathedral with beautiful stained glass windows, altar, and pipe organ is worth a visit if you are interested in religious buildings.

Our family camping getaway this year. Loved it. We had a caravan, mobile home and 3 tents. The wildlife was fantastic. We saw a massive lizard, sea hare and the rocks and shells were plentiful. No showers however the ocean was spectacular. Drop toilets were clean and didn't smell. We had a wonderful few days together.

Lovely area for families and friends to have some outdoor time close to the town. The park has a water way with ducks, which amuse adults and children alike. There are undercover areas - some have bbq's, and play areas for children, plus amenities. What more could you want for a relaxing time. There is even a gazebo where wedding ceromonies are often performed (weddings are also just in the park not in the gazebo)
