This 1830's convict built bridge is a beautiful example of the convict stonemason's art. It was chiselled out by hand by British convicts transported from Britain. It is so strong it is still in use today

Absolutely beautiful town, parks, gardens, trees (duck - lots of ducks). Bridge lends itself to some stunning photo opportunities & the shops are all worth a visit.

Worth the visit to see. You can either take the chairlift over and then walk around or take a 5 to 10 minute walk from the main entrance to Cataract Gorge. We all enjoyed walking over it.

If you are in the CBD this is good place for a walk. You can start out in town, walk down to Salamanca, then go round past the MACQ01 hotel, walk along the road and then cross over the bridge before reaching the aquatic centre. A nice circuit for lunchtime exercise!

If coming from the North stop at Rosny Point Lookout for a great view of Hobart and the Bridge. This elegant bridge of today has a great chapter in its history highlighted in the Maritime Museum in Hobart where you can see the aftermath of the Lake Illawarra wiping it out and sending cars into the sea in 1975.

Built in 1836 by British convicts transported from Britain. The red bricks used in the structure give its name, The Red bridge. The three graceful spans reflect beautifully in the flowing water.
