You’ll wonder why you don’t live in Portland after you’ve visited this laid-back and friendly city. With a reputation for manicured parks, eclectic nightlife, fine micro-breweries and distilleries, and nature that cuts right into the city, Portland’s a Pacific Northwest must-visit. Don’t miss the famous Japanese Garden, one of the largest and most beautiful of its kind outside of Japan.

We stayed here on the night be fore we flew out of Portland, and this was place reinforced our love for the McMenamins chain. We watched a movie and enjoyed dessert and after dinner drinks in the restored gym, had a great meal at the Courtyard Restaurant--what an education!

Great Space!!! It’s wood covered walls and beautiful yet simple decor make it a cozy little spot for lunch, dinner, or just hanging out. The roll up wall opens the space, as do the doors to another eating area and an amazing Mexican restaurant next door. You can order from the deliciously different Mexican restaurant and they will deliver it to you in the pub! But don’t overlook the pub’s homemade pretzels! They come crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle! Hint: order a pretzel from the bartender and the queso (with big shrimp in it!) from next door! Wow! They serve beer, wine and cocktails, and they are over the top friendly! I asked for some ice (self service water) and the bartender asked if I’d like it in a glass or in a bowl for my pups!
