At God’s Bridge, the water is super blue. The current from the waterfall is strong so they have installed thick floating ropes to help you ‘navigate’ if you are not strong enough to swim against the current. Beautiful waterfalls surround you on three sides. You can jump, climb, be immersed in the water or get pounded by the waterfalls. But the real surprise is a small opening in one of the rocks. Once you go through that opening (which most guides keep for last for obvious reason), you enter a cave like tunnel to get you to the ‘other side’. The color is breathtakingly blue, and its light seems to come from below (on a sunny day). It is both beautiful and magical. Some people don’t realize how strenuous all this jumping, climbing, and cavorting can be. While I was there, a woman had a heart attack and died. All guides jumped in to help her to no avail. A reminder to pace yourself. This is an AMAZING place that fills up quick, so it is best seen in early morning and not on weekends or holidays.

At over 6,000 feet above sea level, this is one of the highest lakes in the world.
You'll experience the traditional and more modern takes on the Day of the Dead. We started our Day of the Dead odyssey in Tzintzuntzan and it gets super crowded on November 1st. The cemetery is packed and welcoming. Towards the end of the evening dozens of large busses arrive to take day trippers back where they came. Instead we headed to Pacanda and Yunuen. The residents spend the night in the cemetery in a very traditional heartwarming celebration. From Yunuen we went to Patzcuaro on November 2nd and enjoyed the traditional artisans market. We walked to the cemetery and observed families spending the day with their loved ones. it was crowded buy calm and beautiful. www.MonarchOdyssey will be again offering tours to the area for the Days of the Dead in 2020.

A well-kept lake and park, complete with 300-year-old cypress groves.
Great place for anyone, couples, families or friends. The lake requires an admission but once inside you are free to set up picnic anywhere. Arrived before opening so experienced it before anyone else could. The lake is surprisingly clean with beautiful crystal clear water. You are able to buy drinks and snacks all throughout the establishment. You can also rent a small boat for a tour across the lake. Well worth it.
