For more than ten years Il Viottolo excursion centre has been organising outdoor holidays which unite discovering our Islands (from a cultural, archaeological, historical and naturalistic point of view), with sporting challenge and the spirit of adventure, sharpening the senses and increasing knowledge, harmonising with the island environment. We propose hiking, sea kayak, mountain bike and sailing excursions for small groups of a maximum of 8 people, small so we can create a group feeling among the participants. The guides, who accompany you, are all passionate about their work and profoundly tied to our territory. Elba is our island the place where we live and carry out the largest part of our activity. Remaining faithful to our philosophy, we have developed our programmes to include other islands of the Tuscan Archipelago and Corsica.

History of the AssociationIn 1993 Angelo, Michela and Lorenzo Palmerio, inspired by the passion for the sea, decide to purchase the "Girasole" (Sunflower), a "Comet 910 Plus", a "Sloop" style sailboat 9.10 meters long, a very comfortable and fast craft, which they use to explore the surroundings of the Tuscan Archipelago. They start from the Medici-era Port of Livorno, to discover first the wonderful "Costa degli Etruschi" (Etruscan coast), pushing South, across the Quercetano Bay, Righini Point, all they way to "Punta delle Pianacce" in the Gulf of Baratti. Over the years the experience grows, and they decide to undertake the high-sea navigation toward the Capraia Island, they arrive to Corsica and organize holiday vacations in the Island of Elba. Over the years they involve friends, companions and relatives, so the craft is part of many memories of swimming, diving and eating together. Friends start to involve more friends, and so over time the "Girasole" gave the opportunity to all the people that sailed on it, even if for just one day, to experience the emotion of the silent high-sea, only pushed by the gentle blow of the Mediterranean winds.Aware of the beauty of these excursions, Lorenzo decides in the summer of 2009 to found a non-profit association, so to be able to involve more and more people who have in common the passion to explore the wonderful world of sailing.In 2011 the "Girasole" Amateur Sport Association is born, with the goal to accompany to several pre-established destinations whomever was interested, and to offer short classes on the fundamentals of sailing.The spirit of the initiativeBasically the experience that we offer is very simple: it's the enjoyment of the emotion of finding ourselves in the apparent silence of the sea, gently rocked by its warm temper, to appreciate the calm beauty that surfaces from the chromatic shades of blue, from the warmth of the Sun that surround us, from the distant vision of the civilization that we leave behind.We are always surprised and enchanted by the power of the wind that sustains the sails, and slowly interacts with them, step by step becoming one with the boat "being". Since 1991 Sub Now Diving Center operates on Elba Island with a very professional staff, which is composed by instructors of PADI and CMAS. The instructors work together to offer the highest possible amount of seriousness and safety in an easy environment.
