Not just for retirees and theme park enthusiasts, the Sunshine State offers beautiful beaches, pristine diving conditions, and sizzling nightlife. Salsa the night away in a smokin’ hot Miami club, or swing away at one of Kissimmee’s many premium golf courses. An airboat tour of the Everglades is an unforgettable adventure – just look out for alligators! For the risk-averse, a lazy day spent on the soft sands of an Emerald Coast beach is as rejuvenating as a spa treatment.

We parked at Kilarney Station, rented a bike, and cycled this paved trail through lovely residential areas, scenic Winter Garden, and on to the Luca Trail that brings you to Newton Park at Lake Apopka where you can walk the pier and, if lucky, watch the crafty alligator stalk birds. There are washrooms there, and lovely restaurants of all kinds in Winter Garden. Visit the Train Museum.

This is a 3 mile walking loop around the golf course. It can get a little busy but not so much that you can't keep going. Be careful of the time of day you go as there are some portions of the trail where there is very little or no shade so it can get a little too hot/sunny. Plenty of benches to take a rest if you need to,

Saint Marks Trail

Paved road once used for transporting timber, now used by bikers who want to break a sweat.

It was a gorgeous day in the panhandle departing Tallahassee the child quickly lifted and I found myself halfway to Saint Marks. With an ear full of the Brothers Osborne, I found myself peacefully surrounded by what was old Florida! And while little his changed is definitely worth your time to take in the beauty and peacefulness that is North Florida Apalachicola natural forest and it’s Saint Marks Trail.

Santos - Belleview Trail

Biking and hiking trails just outside Ocala.

My wife and I rode from Santos trailhead to the I 75 land bridge and back on the paved path. Very enjoyable ride for a couple of senior citizens. Route had varied scenery, was shady and lightly used during the week in January. Trailhead had parking spaces, picnic tables and flush toilets all in good condition. We have already made camping reservations this spring to return to ride the easiest of the single track paths.

Shark Valley

Located in the Everglades, this trail is a great way to explore the Florida landscape.

Reviewed By JSchill - Johns Creek, United States

Great tour! Brought my 82 year old dad who has been to many, many National Parks with us through the years. Tram tour is a wonderful way to explore the park without a lot of walking - guides are quick to point out birds of interest, alligators, snakes, tracks and much more. They are aware of those trying to photograph the wildlife and offer plenty of time for that. There is a :20 stop at the tower which is well worth the walk up. Rangers were extremely knowledge on all the creatures and eco-system of the park. Thankfully FL and the Army Corp of Engineers are making progress protecting this area for years to come. Highly recommend the park and the Shark Valley Tram tour - you will see lots of alligators! ???? Enjoy!
