Because of Covid-19 I had a private cooking class. My instructor was really great! We first went to the local market to see what is normal in an everyday Vietnamese food market. There were some fruits and vegetables I had never seen before. Once we were back in the kitchen I made 4 dishes. His instructions were very helpful and it was fun. For one person this was a lot of food to eat but it was delicious. I got a cookbook to take home and I hope to make some of the recipes soon!

Hoa’s Village was only 7 miles away but about 25 minutes by motorcycle and she encouraged me to meet her there. I booked my first grab motorcycle with a little bit of help from the hotel staff. With my green helmet and mask on, I claimed on board and off we went. I noticed Hoa right away at the market and she's definitely a professional and classy young independent woman. I already I like her a lot with her beautiful smile and welcoming words. She was raised in middle Vietnam, lived a third of her life in Ho Chi Minh and now has finished living a third of her life in Hanoi working. She is a facilitator for groups of travelers who travel to Hanoi and are engaged in programs. Smart and curious and definitely loving her country, she is the perfect guide for me today. I have paid for two hours but she encourages me to stay with her as we share cultures and visions and examples of how we live our lives which are parallel in many ways. She provides and insightful views of her village that are charming, informative through her lens and I treasure her for her generousity. At the close of a memorablel adventure, With several big hugs, I say goodbye to Hoa but I will never forget her.

During my stay in Saigon I did 3 tours on the back of Anh’s scooter and had the best of times. Anh is the quirkiest and loveliest of guides and piloted me through Saigon’s traffic madness without me feeling trepidatious for one second. The Unseen Saigon Tour will get you to corners of Saigon where tourists rarely venture and you can get a good impression of life outside your hotel confines. I highly, highly recommend it!

Our family had a wonderful tour of My Son with Andy. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the temples, but he also spent the ride to My Son from Hoi An explaining all kinds of interesting tidbits about Vietnamese culture and history. We had our 21 month old with us, and he was very patient. Even explaining things twice so that one of us could stay with our son and take turns going up areas where it would be hard to navigate with the stroller. We basically had the area to ourselves as tourism hasn’t quite bounced back yet from the Covid season.

The tour is great but it’s 2-2.5 hours from Saigon to Vung Tau. The beach is large but dirty. The statue of Jesus is very cool.

I visited Hanoi with two of my friends, and we were so lucky to find Dien. He took us through old town to have some amazing food and coffees in places we never would have found without him. Finally, he took us to the train tracks to have some drinks and watch the trains go past. It’s an experience I’ll never forget, and I was so glad that I came across Dien. A really great guy who felt more like an old friend than a tour guide. I’d recommend him to anyone.

Jordan our tour guide was fantastic, conducting and providing all information in both Vietnamese and English to accomodate for our group. He was friendly, proffessional and helpful- offering to take group pictures of us, helping us on and off of the boats and also ensuring there was a vegetarian friendly meal for myself. The tour itself was fantastic and well worth the money spent and deserving of a tip for all of his hard work and effort throughout the day! Couldn't recommend more, thank you Jordan! ????

This is my third (#3) walking food tour with A Taste of Hanoi. I keep coming back to them because they are easy to communicate and work with. This is, however, the first KIDS food tour I've been on (and that they might have done). Brian was so flexible and quick to respond to my million questions and messages. We, the parents on the previous tour, had this idea about a kid focused food tour, pitched to the ATOH team and they ran with it. They kept kids safety at the forefront of our tour and designed it around easy and safe walking paths. It was a healthy helping of food tour and educational tour, feeding mind and body. We visited the Ba Dinh Square complex, Quan Than Temple and wrapped up with a wonderful family style dinner at a hidden gem of a restaurant. Overall, wonderful experience.
