Both a charming seaside town and the setting of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” Whitby is a place of paradox where families and vampire hunters rub shoulders at the beach and among the Gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey.

The Penny Hedge in Whitby has a lot to shout about! Nicely positioned on the South East side of Whitby's historic town 1.5 miles from the harbour and Abbey and is the perfect place to visit or stay and explore the surroundings! From the most popular story about Dracula coming from Whitby, see the most famous abbey in the UK, the legendary steps to the top. We have 28 rooms with free breakfast.
The real shame about this hotel, is the total waste of fantastic staff. The room whilst clean (and to be fair the bed is comfortable) is worse than basic and only good for a single nights stay, as there is no where to put any clothes, so you have to live out of your case, that can only be stored on the floor. There was 1 large towel and 1 small towel in the bathroom (the room was booked for 2 people,) and the fan in the bathroom was laboured and chunky. Where this hotel really looses out however is the food. Chips are like dried cardboard (very cheap frozen ) and most (battered cod, ok, but that was all) of the food we had over 2 meals was bland and tasteless. Marstons may claim that this is a budget hotel, and at £90 per night it I suppose it could be deemed so, however it really is not worth that amount. I recommend you only stay here as a last resort, for one night, and eat somewhere else.

We had the misfortune to visit this place but were told to come back in half a hour as they didn’t have the time to deal with us. There were empty tables but she said they were really busy and they had a wedding to prepare. Will not ever go in there again as she wasn’t even nice about it and made us feel very unwelcome!!!

Loved everything about this place. the location is stunning, near the coast at Sandsend in an idyllic enclave, and the cottage is in beautifull, well kept grounds. Jason and Leigh were very friendly and made us feel really welcome. The breakfast was great, with locally sourced ingredients and plenty of choice. The room was spacious enough for 3 with an en suite and was very comfortable. Otis the dog, was an added bonus. We couldn't have asked for more and would definately make a return visit.

We stayed 3 nights in this place and I must say all was really good! The hosts were super nice and friendly. The place is clean and tidy and quite old fashion which makes it look more interesting. I like the fact you select what breakfast you want and the time you want and next morning they will bring it to your room door (no food wasted which is a bonus). They also made some adjustments on the breakfast menu for me which was really nice! From this place is a 5 min walk from Pannett Park and Cinder track and a 10-12 min walk to the city centre, so really good location. Free parking also. Really happy and recommend this place!

We visited Seacrest for a 3 night stay recently as a couple. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Great hosts and a fabulous breakfast provided. The bed was so clean and comfy. Our room was on the top floor with 49 stairs to it but that can't be helped. The b and b is very central to the town centre and we had a lovely stay. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

From its high emphasis on sourcing local produce, to Courtyard rooms, The Stables offers dining and accommodation just 2 miles from the seaside town of Whitby. The restaurant serves a varied seasonal menu in a rustic setting, with exposed beams and flagstone floors. The views of the Esk Valley can be enjoyed from the garden room complete with its own log burner. Guests can relax in the bar area complete with a traditional working cast iron range or by the garden pond which has its own thatched pagoda island. On the edge of Whitby, Cross Butts is where town really meets country. A perfect base for exploring nearby Sandsend, Robin Hood’s Bay and the beautiful North York Moors National Park.
Beautiful building and really well-laid out. Lovely garden and outdoor seating area, and a vocal Peacock. Service was very good and the food was delicious quickly. The bar didn’t have the ales available that were on the menu, which was disappointing. The food was also disappointing. Basic bar menu with just one vegetarian main( I think). £16 for 8 pieces of scampi, a few (frozen) chips. A tiny cup of peas and a garnish is in my opinion overpriced.

The House has 11 bedrooms, a restauant serving local produce from moor and sea as well as having a relaxing welcoming bar which is popular with both guests and locals alike.
We had the sea view balcony room for the weekend. The White House is charming, Welcoming, nicely decorated and has tasty food and very friendly staff. Highly recommend. Very nice place to stay and eat.

Our comfortable rooms, each of which is dedicated to a prominent character from local history, are all en-suite and have television and hospitality trays. For that special occasion we have the superior Sutcliffe room and we also have twin and single rooms. We offer an excellent choice of breakfast including vegetarian option, famous locally smoked kippers, or to set you up for the day our hearty English breakfast.
Our first time here, we chose it as it allowed us to stay just a single night. We were really pleased with its location, being so close to the centre. Also, having parking was a definite bonus. We arrived early and were able to check in at 11.30am. The host, Rachel was really welcoming and our room was amazing. A lovely big window on the front with a perfect view of the Abbey! By night time, the traffic had calmed giving us a perfect nights sleep in the comfortable beds. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. Overall, well worth the money and we will happily go again!!!

We booked a short break here as we were going to the Whitby 60s Music Festival. This B &B is in a perfect location to visit all the main sites in this beautiful, friendly little town. Our double room was quiet, comfortable and provided all you would expect from such a super establishment. The proprietor, Lee, was extremely friendly and helpful and was very welcoming. The excellent breakfast set us up for the whole day, with tasty scrambled( best ever according to my wife), fried and poached eggs. If going to Whitby for a short break, or even longer, I would strongly recommend this B & B.
