Hótel Laugarhóll is a peaceful and comfortable rustic country hotel in the east part of the Westfjords. It is located in the green and sparsely populated valley Bjarnarfjördur, midway between Reykjavík and Ísafjördur. We have 16 double rooms, 11 with private bathrooms, and a comfortable living room with free internet access.
This hotel has a number of plus points - friendly staff, good food, nice pool. The rooms are reasonably comfortable, but starting to show their age a bit (eg sanitary fittings). Incidentally, I agree with marts03 on removal of shoes. This is something the establishment might want to rethink.

Rooms are clean, but a bit tired, shower is a connector in the bath, etc. Welcome was really nice, it's not really a hotel, more a bar/restaurant with rooms above and opposite. Service top and engaging, food was excellent...catch of the day was delicious. Relaxed atmosphere.

Hotel Flatey is situated in the centre of the old village on Flatey, in the very heart of Breiðafjörður. The houses in the old centre are timber structures dating from the island’s former times of prosperity, and most of them have been restored in their original style.Nowhere else in Iceland can you find an urban setting where the atmosphere of the past has been so faithfully preserved.
I wish we had stayed longer! So peaceful and quiet, a beautiful walk around the island. Food was incredible and rooms were lovely. There's not much to do, expect "be", so I'm glad this was toward the end of our trip after many days of go-go-go. Perfect endcap. We brought a few games and just slowed down.

The Korpudalur Hostel in Korpudalur is in a nice old farmhouse which has been renovated into a Hostel. The Korpudalur Hostel in Iceland is located innermost in Önundarfjördur surrounded by high mountains, 17 km from Isafjördur and 12 km from Flateyri. Around the Hostel there are many possibilities for hiking, climbing and angling in the wild nature. A 15 km mountain hiking trail lies through Korpudalur and Alftafjardarheidi, an old traditional route. For birdwatchers, thousands of seabirds, sparrows, ducks and even eagles can be seen. At Isafjördur and Flateyri you can find activities such as swimming, hot pots, kayaking and golf. Scheduled boat trips on Isafjardardjup - to Vigur and Hornstrandir - can also be attempted.
We booked a room in the guesthouse, which we (due to covid times) only shared with one other person. So there was certainly enough room and showers for us. We could use an extensive kitchen for breakfast (or evening cooking if we would have wanted that). The nearby-living owner was present and making sure that we had a good stay. Lovely man. Nice surroundings. Really nice play to stay the night.

beautiful little town in the westfjords which is now one of my favourite places in the world. it's up there with the south island of new zealand scenery wise especially on a sunny day. Bjarmaland we arrived around 4-30pm to be told the roon would be ready around 6pm which was fine with us as hungry so went to eat. Checked in at 6pm owners very helpful and friendly. Room spotlessly clean. Simple but nice breakfast the next morning. you have to take your shoes off at the front entrance which was no issue at all for us. Overall very happy with choice and would recommend.

Hotel Horn opened in 2013. It has 24 rooms on two levels. On the first floor is the lobby and breakfast lounge. All rooms have flat screen TVs, shower and toilettes.
The hotel was pretty much of a standard to be expected in this part of Iceland. We had to check in at Hotel Torg down the street. Our hotel was totally unstaffed and we had a code to enter the building, Breakfast was also served at the other hotel and so there were NO amenities in our building at all. The room was comfortable and we had a corner room with a view of the main area of the town. Plenty of parking behind the building which made it convenient.

We were due to spend 2 nights here, last night and tonight, Monday and Tuesday night. On the Sunday evening we were checking existing and forecasted road and weather conditions and it was clear to us that they would be such poor conditions we would not want to be driving through them. Regrettably we were inside the 48 hour still have to pay cancellation period. But we messaged the guesthouse asking that they forgo the cancellation fee. They said no and there then followed a series of messages where they were saying that the roads were "passable/driveable" and I was saying I wasn't prepared to drive in those conditions. We instead headed south and still had to drive many sections at 25 kph in almost zero visibility -only one snow poles length ahead - on packed ice and snow. The official road maps for going north up to Isafjorda at the time we were driving south showed road conditions and temperatures even worse than those we were driving south in. Sometime during Monday we also got an email from our car hire company advising of severe weather and to NOT TRAVEL in the Westfjords area. And today, Tuesday, when we should be in Isafjorda, is early afternoon and the official road conditions map is showing roads in and out of Westfjords/Isafjorda as closed. And still they insist we could have got in. Crazy, crazy decision making on their part.

Told my wife as we approached that I was hoping the hotel would be a pleasant surprise. Having spent several nights over the years in all sorts of dreary old farmhouse/school/barn converted to hotel I didn’t really have my hopes up. They offer various types of rooms and the one we saw were the double rooms with private bathroom. This review is based on that type of room. The accommodations were self-service with a key-box and code so there is no check-in. Convenient for extremely early or late check-in. There is a big foyer/veranda with a large sliding glass door that can be opened or kept closed depending on weather. There is a table and chair on the veranda, and we used it for our breakfast and coffee. Made the room feel very large. The room itself is quite big. It’s a wooden/cabin type structure with a basic but fully functional bathroom/shower room. Everything you really need in the room; table, chairs, kettle, glasses, and coffee-cups. The room is nice but could do with maybe a bit more decoration (pics on the wall, better lighting…). As is its sparse but what’s missing is more cosmetic than functional. Bed and bedding are very good and cleanliness was adequate. No complaints there. Both the veranda area and the room had several large wall-hangers that were great to hang clothes on. I can imagine the hangers in the foyer would be fantastic to dry off wet hiking coats after a day exploring, and the foyer convenient to store wet boots and camping stuff. Good wifi. As others have pointed out the walls could do with better sound cancellation. Although we couldn’t discern conversations, we could very clearly hear the people in the rooms both sides to us. This is what drops the review down a star. The restaurant was closed, and this was obvious to us on their website so it wasn’t a surprise. Be aware that this is a very small town. On the days we were there (early May) the village store had limited hours and limited variety. We came prepared and cooked our own meals in the veranda area and in front of the cabin. This was a pleasant surprise. We felt very comfortable at Malarhorn and would definitely stay there again.

After a long and stunning drive through the Westfjords it's amazing tot discover a restaurant in this remote place. A small but delicious menu served by friendly staff with a good sence of humour. From the restaurant you overlook the daily catch of fish coming in, which creates a somewhat surrealistic environment. We would recommend this restaurant.
