Expensive barracks

Reviewed By paulvR2917BI

We booked based on their website which shows heritage style buildings that looked appealing. Considering we booked a 2 bedroom apartment at close to $300 we expected to stay in them. We were sent up the road to some old army barracks that were upgraded. They were small with minimal facilities & we felt claustrophobic & left early, considering the costs of many others we stayed in that week we would not recommend it.

The Florance

Superbly located within Launceston's CBD, opposite the city's landmark City Park, The Florance is the perfect base to explore the region of Northern Tasmania. Inspired by the park side location, the botanical theme flows throughout the restored Victorian property bringing with it a sense of calm, and the perfect place to rest your weary head having spent the day exploring. We are situated in the hub of the original part of the early establishment of Launceston. Overlooking the incredible trees within the City Park, close to the very best restaurants and bars.

The Florence is a beautiful boutique hotel that provides a wonderful experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Our upstairs room was spotlessly clean and had a great view of the City Park across the road. Breakfast in the downstairs conservatory was very pleasant. Thoroughly recommend.

Hideaway on George

New ownership as of August 2017. Come and experience the convenience of inner city living with country-style hospitality. Free wifi and off-street parking. What's not to love?

A hideaway right next to centre of town

Reviewed By JElliot32

We were pretty happy with our stay at the Hideaway, which is just a few blocks from downtown Lonnie, with its many good cafes and shops. While George St is busy, the hotel's 'hideaway' location is set well back from the street so is very quiet and its elevation gives good views across the city. The room was clean, nicely decorated and spacious enough, wifi reception good. Two things bothered: there was just one towel rail (and no hooks) in the otherwise excellent bathroom; secondly, the noise coming from the next rooms. The walls seemed to be solid brick but we one could hear muted conversations from the next room.

The Dragonfly Inn

A charming little B&B with history (when it was called Rocklynn). - the reason why I chose the Dragonfly Inn. Awesome views of Loni. Clean, welcoming and only a txt away if you need anything or any question you may have. Not far from cataract gorge. We stayed 2 nights with easy check in and check out, and we opted for the complimentary red wine. Well worth the visit.

First time stay outside of Launceston

Reviewed By alicelI981YN

We stayed here as a family of five in a Family Room with private ensuite. We checked in 15 minutes early but the lady was happy to give us the keys to the room. The accommodation is upstairs on top of a pub/pokies. There is no lift so you have to walk up two flights of stairs and carry your luggage. Our room was very spacious with two single beds, and a sofa bed in the main living area. There was a private ensuite separating the queen bed room which was perfect for my parents. The room had basic furniture, a TV, fridge and coffee/tea making facilities. My son loved having a bubble bath as we only have a shower at home. The room was clean and the wide windows around the room made a good view of the outside which my son could look out of. Our room was situated next door to the communal kitchen and opposite to the shared bathroom which was very convenient. The hotel is within walking distance to a shopping plaza, restaurants, a KFC, Hungry Jacks, Coles and Woolworths. The only negative was that our room was situated along a busy main road and at night you could hear all the traffic passing by so we didn’t get a good night’s sleep. Also our booking via booking.com said we would get two free welcome drinks for two guests upon arrival but we didn’t get that. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay at Mowbray Hotel and would consider staying here again.

Great place for a family

My family of five has three teenage daughters and Pearce’s cottage was perfect. Three bedrooms, two lovely bathrooms, a great kitchen, lounge and dining areas. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and well maintained. A great washing machine and dryer were a bonus. It is 10 minutes drive to Launceston, but breakfast supplies, beautiful accommodation and very reasonable rates make it worth the drive.

Dirty and extremely spartan rooms - not hard to find better value

Reviewed By Andrew S

The room I stayed in (an executive queen bed with bathroom) was in a terrible state. The floors were dirty, there's no A/C, there's no desk if you're staying for business and it's not the quietest place I've ever stayed. It is fairly central - a walk to the centre of town is less than 10 minutes stroll. There are much better options available for the price. If it was $80 for the room, I'd say it was good value. At $120 it's not even close.

Very warm room with only a fan, no air conditioning. The shower is in the bath tub next to the toilet. Would be an issue for seniors or anyone with limited leg movement. Extremely tight space between toilet and shower. You might actually need to stand in the bath to shut the door before sitting on the toilet! Out dated small screen TV, not a smart TV. Double bed, one side hard up against the wall. Very soft mattress decent pillows. Noisy room, lots of door banging and road noise. Price at booking not the same as quoted on booking.com For $119 a night it's over priced. Meals at Steve's grill were tasty however pricey at $34 for a parma. Stay a couple of blocks closer to Brisbane mall. No contact whatsoever with hotel staff. Stayed for 2 nights

Disappointing

Reviewed By MissKirstsTravels

Disappointing food. I’m not sure whether this is the usual standard produced but it was poor. The staff were super friendly. We ordered nachos and garlic herb bread. Both were extremely poor. Large servings. The herb bread was just some toast with a slight scraping of herbs/butter. Inedible as the bread tasted dry & serving that had been scraped on of herbs/butter didn’t even cover the bread. When we ordered the nachos we were told they were out of guacamole. That was fine by us. But what arrived was a very poor attempt at nachos. Appeared like CC’s, beans, a jar of salsa dip had just been thrown on a plate and microwaved with a massive amount of cheese on top. I hope this isn’t the usual standard & perhaps the chef was away that day, but I certainly won’t be returning. The bar itself had a lovely friendly vibe.
